I don't know if any of you have been following this, but WiiWare just launched in the states. I downloaded Lost Winds ($10) and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - My Life as King ($15). They are both pretty damn impressive for download titles. Lost Winds is especially pretty though I have heard that the game can be completed in about 3 hours. OTH, so can Portal. Lost Winds makes very nice use of the Wii-mote, pretty much putting 90 percent of the retail games for the system to shame.
FF:CC-MLAK (Wow that's a long title) is also pretty neat. It's essentially SimCity: Final Fantasy edition. Build your town and keep your residents happy. From what little I've messed about with, the games seems to have a surprising amount of depth. Make no mistake, this is not an RPG, so no fights for you. Instead you hire adventurers to go off to dungeons on quests and they bring back resources to build the town and items to better equip themselves for further adventure. It's charming as hell and very impressive.
A word of warning about My Life as King. The game is being released with a bunch of DLC which can get pretty pricey. These include, new dungeons, ne building types, new costumes, and new races. Essentially, they run the gamut from trivial and decorative (horse armor), to meaningful expansion of abilities (Knights of the Nine). The good news is, there seems to be a consensus that you can buy the core game and enjoy a full experience just fine. This means that the existence of DLC shouldn't hamperyour enjoyment of the game unless it's existence offends you to the point that you refuse to buy the game. (I wasn't thrilled either but I am so far pleased with my $15 purchase)

From what I've seen it's nothing you can't find for free as an internet flash gameQwerty 42 wrote:I just saw "Defend Your Castle" up yesterday. Anyone know if it's worth the five bucks?

It is an internet flash game. You could probably play it in the Wii browser, cause it's all mouse controlled.UCBooties wrote:From what I've seen it's nothing you can't find for free as an internet flash gameQwerty 42 wrote:I just saw "Defend Your Castle" up yesterday. Don't know how they've changed it to justify the price.
