Advanced XP Defender and MalWare Remover help?

In typical "old people who can't use technology" fashion, my dad apparently fell for the "YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED ZOMG!" crap on the Internet and, while swearing he didn't download anything, obviously did. And now I'm stuck with Advanced XP Defender and MalWare Remover. Possibly more.
So I come to you all to ask for help in dealing with this in the quickest, most permanent manner possible. I don't like having to install something new, just to get rid of something else, but if need be I will. Just please whatever is the most minimalist of things.
Incidently, Norton doesn't seem to recognize AXPDefender. Though apparently it tried to get rid of MalWare Remover. Whether it was successful or not I'm not sure.
