I had thought I had played every MMO ever made..

Post by Mr Bean »

I used to be big into MMO's. I was hooked on the Evercrack, I dabled in Ashron's Call I and Beta tested II. Speaking of which I beta tested for EQ2, World of Warcraft, Linage II, and Shadowbane. And anyone who's ever played Anarchy Online knows that the first year was a pay to play Beta test considering how horribly unstable the game was.

Heck I even played the non-traditional MMO's like World War II online(Making Quake I look good since 97) and Planetside(Candy-coated infinte heath laggy as fuck battles) and Tabula Rasa(Every character gets a Zorg-ZG1 no need to aim after the first shot, spin 180 away and your bullets fly towards the enemy, it's a fake FPS mmo)

And then I found this website
It lists all free MMO's in existence, and I can tell you right now, with the exception of the two that used to be pay to played, I've not played a damn one of them.

Nor heard of any of them until today. I mean shit, there's like 80 of the little bastards out there.
When the heck did this thing get moving?
And what if any of these have you played?

FYI Here's my list of played MMO's current as of last month
The List of shame wrote: Beta Tested
Anarchy Online
City of Heroes

Dungeons & Dragons Online
EverQuest II

Battleground Europe: WWII
EVE Online
Final Fantasy XI
Guild Wars
Ragnarok Online

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Note, the Lineage II, Lord of the Rings Online, the Matrix Online and Tabula Rasa Beta's convinced me NOT to buy the final game, the other games however I did both Beta test and purchase.

Of those free ones, I've played only (and still play occasionally) Conquer Online. It's ridiculously simple and very, very boring if you actually spend some time playing it, but it's recently become some sort of an online Minesweeper for me just because of that simplicity. You just play it occasionally when you got a spare half an hour and don't come up with anything sensible to do with that time.

Oh, and if you thought WoW was full of illiterate idiots, just try CO :P .

Out of the RPGs, the only one I can really suggest is 9Dragons.

Shaiya is good.

Four modes of difficulty, two servers and plenty of nudity in game 8)

Being free to play is an added bonus.

How could you have missed out on Dark Age of Camelot the best mass PvP/RvR game made so far until Warhammer. Only free one I've played was Dungeon Runners, pretty neat but like all the free to play but options to pay for good shit it gets annoying quickly.

Ok I did forget one, I did play DAOC. I played it, for nine hours and you know what I concluded?

The combat fucking sucks(sucked?), and why does it suck? Because it takes forever to kill a fucking rat. Seriously, your talking about EQ style clicking that lasts three times as long as EQ. Maybe it changed, but I got the chance to play with a Level 1, a Level 20 fighter type and a 34 Level spell caster character style. And they all felt the same, the combat felt slow, and having just gotten off my EQ addiction I was in no shape to play what seemed like and even slower-paced game.

Hmmm, let's see....

Everquest
WoW
City of Hearoes/Villains
Pirates of the Burning Sea
Flyff
Rose Online
Silkroad Online
Space Cowboys
Lineage II
Shadowbane
9Dragons
Dungeon Runners
Second Life

Emphasis on the ones you didn't mention. Apparently, a bunch of starups in Korea are making the very same game, with minor tweaks (I'm betting on them using a licensed Lineage II engine), and making them "free to play"... You can see the adverts everywhere.

Hey, the endless forest was creepy and shit as a game, but nice as a screensaver.

I played that for a bit, and enjoyed it a fair amount, but it really needs a better system for finding groups to play with. I was a WIS priest (which are only useful in parties and are in high demand), and I still couldn't find groups to do missions with or PvP and lord knows that find a good guild is just as hard.

You claim to have played every MMO ever made, and yet there is a distinct lack of free Korean MMOs on that list.

Epic failure.

Once you get to HM you can access a better search function. Also remember other people who don't speak English are on those servers as well as there are only two servers.

So you need to learn another language if you want to utilized Trade Chat to find groups.

Also if Finding Groups as a priest is hard, go intel priest and solo, I tested one out and it does fine.

What's the gameplay like? Standard hack'n'slash MMO?

Bare Breasts, pierced nipples, naked asses, big bare breasts, ect on quite a few of the mobs.

Game play depends greatly ln what your class is. If you are a mage or priest/Pagan or Oracle then you best not go melee or you are fracked.

Defenders/Guardians spend most of their time getting beat on while others kill the monster on them.

Fighters/Warriors hack and slash.

Rangers/Assassins are the ultimate PvP players and rightly feared for their chain attacks.

Archer/Hunters fight from a distance with bows or Javelins.

You mean slow like this?
Yeah, the game's pve is lacking. You should have taken that level 20 to thidranki instead and PvP'd.

The mere thought that you hae played every MMO made without looking at Korea shows you to be so ignorant of things that you should probably just go stand in the corner and hang your head in shame.

I like Dungeon Runners, it was pretty fun, and membership was only, what? $5 a month or something like that.

I've played RF Online, Shaiya Online, Rappelz, Sword of the New World, Archlord and Wow.

The only one I'm still sorta playing is RF Online, it has open pvp.. in face it is a race war between the 3 factions and a big part of the game is griefing the enemy by stuff like blockading their bases so their lowbies can't go outside to level or raiding the high level raiding zones so they can't level. In short if you see someone from a different race you either go kill it or run like hell. And 3 times a day there are these "chip wars" which are like simplistic RTS game where each race has a control center that their race leader will direct the race to either protect or try to coordinate an assault an enemy chip depending on the situation. Sometimes the two weaker races at the moment will team up to take on the strongest race but someone always ends up backstabbing the other race so there is plenty of drama to keep things interesting.

The only problem is that currently some cheaters have found some exploits to crash the server and damage hack so I'm taking a short break form RF until they're fixed.

Here is a video from one of the former top guilds from the coolest looking race in my opinion. here is a video of the class I play, a Bellato wizard and here is a video the most powerful and expensive unit in the game.. an Orange MAU which hits like a truck

You really jumped out of LOTRO? I'm freakin addicted to it but I think that is also because I've played very casually (I was open beta and just made the level cap about two weeks ago) so there always seems to be more new and neat stuff.
