Twitches in AVG 8?

I just upgraded my AVG Free today to version 8, and there seems to be something twitchy going on on my system now. My windows security center now insists that my firewall (zonealarm) is not active, but I can pull up the Zonealarm control center which tells me everything is fine and normal. Also, more in the annoyance column than anything else, AIM can't connect on the first try after rebooting, I have to go in and relaunch it manually. Has anyone else run into issues with this version?

My copy refused to auto-update for the first few weeks so I had to manually update the stupid thing every time the update warning came up. Then it somehow fixed around a week ago.

Hell, I'm still using 7.5 and I have to manually update everyday... I figured that was probably a tactic to get me to upgrade?

I'm still running 7.5, and it runs fine.... in fact, this thread just made me aware of the v8 upgrade.... I think I'll wait a bit until they get on my nerves with their pestering (wich I have seen none so far)
Oh, wait, that's why I keep getting this spalsh screen! I should read it next time before blindly hitting "remind me later"

The last splash screen I saw said that 7.5 goes unsupported on the 31st., so the issue may be forced fairly shortly.
The first problems I ran into seem to have vanished with today's cold-start, but now I seem to have muse & tim's problem with the manual updating. I guess I'll see what happens later on.

The automatic update never failed me in 7.5, I just got sick of the near daily reminder to upgrade to version 8.
Everything seems to be working fine right now, though as I mentioned previously it took a while to fix itself and start working properly.

Apparently if you update to 8, it sometimes fails to remove 7.5, so you have manually delete it, due to it causing some sort of communication error.

The auto-update freezes my computer for around 30 seconds to a minute every time I boot up. The computer starts up normally then stalls while AVG updates, except that AVG doesn't say that it's updating or anything, it just stalls my computer till it's done doing whatever it's doing.

Hehehe, they have extended the deadline for AVG 7.5 to the 20th of June! Good, good.
