Over the last week my Vista laptop has shutdown and rebooted several times by itself. I scanned for viruses, malware and ran a chkdisk and nothing popped up. Does anyone have any ideas?

My old IBM laptop had this notorious problem of the LAN drivers acting up and resulting in occasional system reboots. I'm not sure if it turns up elsewhere.

Hum after downloading the latest hotfixes it seems to have stopped. Hopefully it stays fixed.

Some laptops automatically shut down if they go over a certain temperature. Make sure your fans aren't gummed up by dust.
