GetDataBack is awesome

Post by phongn »

I can't recommend Runtime Software's GetDataBack enough. I had an external drive/flash reader whose FAT was corrupted before before I had a chance to upload a very large number of pictures to more secure storage (RAID5 server, plus Flickr for the better ones). I very nearly thought I had lost all of them: GDB is currently recovering them without any apparent difficulty (I don't expect it to grab everything, but it's clearly grabbing a lot).

It's pricey ($69 for either the FAT32 or NTFS version, $119 for both(!)) but it is doing a spectacular job and, frankly, those pictures are worth a lot more than the amount of cash I just spent.

I used that two years ago. I also recommend it.
