Battlefield Bad Company.

I just got done playing the demo for Battlefield, Bad Company on PS3. This game is awesome, my only complaint is a lack of co-axial machineguns. Bring that stuff back darnit!

Anyways, the graphics are well done, with the exception of a weird graininess prevalent throughout the visuals. From other forums I've read this is game, not tv related.

The controls are good, smooth and responsive throughout.

Multiplayer is very fun, thats all I can say for now.

Yeah, I've heard the PSN demo plays like silk. The same can't be said for the 360 demo, which is lagging everyone so badly people often tend to end up 10 ft from where they were just standing due to yet another lag spike. :)

Anyway, since I pre ordered the game and got the early week access, ie: before the legions of Xbox Live guys swarmed the demo and killed it (not like DICE is without blame for that), I got smooth gameplay prior to that to notice the game beneath.

The game is designed quite nicely. I hear lots of people are comparing to CoD4 but that's just lame. They're completely different games. Other compare it to Modern Combat which is better but still pretty inaccurate because BC really is a redesigned Battlefield game. They basically dumped the stereotypical conquest/point capture mode and changed it over with a kind of "place bomb here" system. Seems like the defenders have the advantage in some cases.

Who's in the mood for nitpicking? :) Here's a good complaint, why is their no party support or room for clans? The game was pretty much designed with loners and Rambos in mind. You can't even organize a personal squad! :)

I haven't had the opportunity to play the multiplayer part, as I'm not the one who has the demo. I wish you didn't have to choose between grenades and grenade launchers. Why couldn't you just have a store of grenades and a launcher to use as well? It would allow for more flexibility with explosives, rather than having to rely on others when you're either out of range for throwing or too close to launch one.

They're bringing conquest back as free DLC after the release, probably in an update.

Yes you can. When searching for a custom match you press X (on the 360) to open up a squad invite form. You can have a squad of 4. It's really nice to have an organized squad of your friends so you're not yelling into the mic at the other players to stop playing it like a deathmatch and plant the damn bomb!

In the multiplayer the assault class has hand grenades. IIRC it's the only one that does.

I still don't know what the hell they were thinking when they decided that only one class should get hand grenades. Hand grenades and grenade launchers serve very different purposes in the game, and you shouldn't be totally fucked if you need to shoot a grenade into a building but only have assault in your squad, or if you need to chuck a hand grenade into a position (which you can't move too far from to avoid being put in a field of fire from both the position and anyone else in the area) but you're too close to use grenade launchers.

While it'll definately encourage players to give their groups a mix of classes when attacking, it won't help when you land with a bunch of idiots who think the assault rifle is the best thing evar.

SP demo on 360 was pretty fun. Haven't played any of it multi, but don't really care (never really have cared about BF MP) as I prefer just tooling about in a sandbox with lots of guns.

But the SP campaign looks like it could be fun and it was pretty intense in some sections, constantly getting reminded that just because you're behind cover doesn't mean that you're safe.

I kinda wish that interior walls and floors on multi-story buildings were not indestructible.

I had a bunch of fun winning the demo mission by killing as many people as possible with a set of power tools (easy mode, though).

Holy fuck, multiplayer is laggy on Xbox Live. I was jumping 10 feet back and sliding through walls constantly.

You sure it wasn't your connection? I played a match at my friend's house (same connection as me) and watched three others, and there was absolutely zero lag.

Now that I've played multiplayer, I know I'm getting this game. I've never gotten the same rush with any other game when I'm under fire. It's just plain awesome to be running down a street, turning to fire off a few shots at pursuing enemies, and seeing the corner of a building ahead of you explode and take out a teammate.

All of my friends on Live who have tried the demo had bad lag too. Only in the last day, though.

I'd give real money for the Defending team to figure out that "Defense" means you protect the god damn crate. Not run to the enemy's base and stat whore. :)

I figured that out about halfway through my game. Of course, I didn't know which team I was on, as my friend had the demo and we were swapping with each match. Ironically, when we got pushed back to our final few crates, the rest of the team was stuck fighting close to the crates, so their attempts at stat whoring actually thinned the American ranks quite a bit.

Not played the demo yet, but in a way, limiting grenades might be a good thing. I've been playing COD4 multiplayer for a while and there are a large proportion of people who use nothing BUT grenades and grenade launchers. How big is the demo to download on XBL?

1.5 gigs. And while you would be right about limiting grenade launchers (which can blow holes in buildings and cause moderate damage to tanks and APCs), there's not much need to limit hand grenades. They're anti-personnel weapons only, and can't cause damage to the environment without tripping other explosives, and they're useless against armor. Hand grenades would only be useful for clearing buildings or tossing up at a machine gun nest.

As an addendum, the cratering of the ground is awesome with artillery. During a few matches my team was too stupid to destroy the gold crates at the very first outpost, so artillery strikes just kept coming right down in the middle. By the end of the match it was almost impossible for their tanks to leave the base because it was covered in craters deep enough to take cover in. One guy actually did use a particularly deep one as an impromtu machine gun nest.
