Trackballs!

Just bought myself a trackball, getting used to it, played around w/ using it in an FPS a little. Seems it allows much faster aiming (to the point of nauseousness) at the expense of some rapid accuracy (at least until I get used to it). Remapped a button to allow it to work like a Mighty Mouse scrollball when held down
Anybody else use one?

I have a Microsoft Trackball Explorer, sadly discontinued some years ago.

I don't use one.
Do you use one where the trackball is in the middle and the buttons are on the sides, or do you use one where the trackball is controlled by the thumb and the other fingers rest on buttons?

Middle, I feel fingers have more precision than the thumb. Unfortunately the symmetry of the logitech I'm using is somewhat uncomfortable, but I'm getting used to it, and aiming correctly. Sketching lines in paint apps is a whole different story
(though I have a trackpoint on my keyboard for precision jobs like that).

The trackball is controlled by the index finger, and there are buttons to either side.
