My old Apple iBook has a red line toward the left side of the screen and a green line appears occasionally on the right side, mainly if I put pressure on that side of the screen. Is this is a harmless glitch or should I be worried?

Seems harmless for now, but it sounds like your screen is dying. Might want to look at having it replaced if it's affordable.
