FireFox Find function broken

I had this issue with FireFox 2, and it persists after my FireFox 3 upgrade.

When I hit Command-F to search and type in a text string, it's inconsistent. It doesn't find all of the instances if a text string in the page, and sometimes finds none when I see it right in front of me.

I'm using the OS X version, on a Hackintosh with no other issues.

Anyone seen anything like this before?

The only thing that is vaguely like your problem is when you scroll down a page, start a search, and FF doesn't automatically jump to the highlighted result - ie, the word is highlighted, but it's off-screen. However, I don't remember it blatantly missing words. Can you give a link to a page where the search definitely failed?

I've had that problem in Mozilla. Sometimes hitting search doesn't do anything at all.

Hmm, I just did some testing. Curious...

For example, I can search for "automatically" and it finds the word in your post; but if I search for anything in your "Pentium", it doesn't find the word in your sig, nor does it find the word "Bounty" or "Emperor".

Also, I can't find the word "Charizard" here:

The only thing I could think of is that you have the "match case" turned on but I don't think that is it anymore.

Wooooow...actually I think that was it.
I have never investigated that Match case button.
At work today I fixed very complex desktop issues, and at home I can't uncheck a box.
I'm thoroughly embarrassed.

Thanks :)
