First off, I've cleared this with Mike so that he would be okay with me putting this up here.

The name of the game is Starblazer Adventures, and its absolutely nowt to do with a certain anime in case you're wondering.

Those of us in the UK of a certain age might remember the Starblazer comics, basically the same as the Commando war comics, and from the same publisher they were small digest sized sci-fi themed comics of about 65 pages.

Now there's an RPG coming using the FATE rules. The main book will be in excess of 600 pages, but there's a preview available for free PDF download here

*Plug* Note one of the names on the cover, "Douglas Nicol" that's me :D

For anyone looking for a space-opera ish style game this could be quite good. Since it's based off a comic series, there is also extensive use of the interior artwork in the book itself, some of which can be seen in the preview.

The systems is also designed to be interchangeable with other backgrounds if the players or GM's so wish. The previews intended to give an idea of some of the variety of the rulebook contents, which is going ot exceed the size of the HERO system rulebook. A lot of it is background material and the intention has been to put as much in the rulebook as possible without the need to sell your internal organs to buy countless supplements.

One of the aspects of the experience system will be that a party can have a ship, and instead of spending experience on your characters, if everyone agrees you can spend it on improving the ship. The fact everyone has to agree makes a ship more than just a method of travel.

It will be on display at the US Gencon show.
