Old games and decompiling

Post by Shrykull »

Is it illegal to decompile any software that's copyrighted? I'm just curious as to how some old games worked, like how the graphics in the original bard's tale worked, and the Quest series of series games (Kings/Police/Space, and also Leisuresuit Larry)

Who cares? I'm pretty sure nobody would be able to tell one way or the other if it somehow violated some bullshit EULA, so the only reason you'd ever have to worry is if you intended to publish what you found.

The system behind the old Sierra games etc has been torn to shit already; go talk to the SCI-free guys or the SCUMM-vm guys.
