I recently came back to EVE after a long break and am trying to get back in touch with the game. I find myself wandering on my own now since my Corp has morphed into a low Sec alliance with me sitting in Empire with little to keep my occupied through the boredom of missions and mining.

I'm trying to work my ass off for the LP to get the various Faction trinkets which requires lots of missions and standing for the better agents so meeting some fellow missioners would be welcome. My character's name is James Sheridan and I'm based in Gallente space around Deltole at the moment.

I won't go back! You can't make me! I'm going to ignore this thread from now on!

I'm already playing WoW! I can't play two mmo's at once! I can't!

Sure you can, just shrink the windows. I just farm honor in AV and play EVE at the same time, because EVE combat is so slow and uninvolved I can split my attention 3 ways (BG/EVE/sandwich).

Anyway, sure I would be interested. Pilot name is "Tyneras".

I'm playing Eve under the name "Hesod Adee". Currently I'm with the Gallente militia in factional warfare, but due to troubles with my ISP I can't do much beyond changing skills at the moment.

What's FC like? I'm in GalFed space too, but I don't get much time to play atm.

Would there be any interest in a shared channel for us all to hop into when we are playing ?

I haven't done any 0.0 PvP, so I can't compare FW to it, but FW is fun so far. Most of the people in the Gallente militia are friendly and will take anyone who wants to join their fleet, unless the person has caused them trouble in the past. And they don't care if someone can only bring a T1 frigate along.

I even managed to get in on a POS kill when a corp in the Caldari militia put one up, so a lot of the people in the Gallente militia decided to take it down.

Eve Voice is used for all the fleet communication.

If your Gallente standing is above 0.5 and you can afford to leave your current corp, I'd advise joining the NPC corp to try out FW. Then just join a plexing or PvP fleet when someone starts to form one.

I play as Carth Ixos. I've created a channel called SDNET, so if anyone want's a chat I'll be in there. I play with 2 other "real life" friends. We've been through 3-4 0.0 alliances, and are currently taking a break while fighting for the Caldari militia.

I play, name is Jordan Scheinlad. I'm currently floating around the Derelik region.

The main difference between FW and 0.0 is the fact that in FW to choose when to fight. For the most part in your factions high sec you are safe. There are some exceptions to this and it's still worth checking local when flying about. It is also quicker, it generally is a task of flying about looking for another fleet, then perhaps a battle which could last about 10 mins. After that its back home.

In comparsion 0.0 combat can occour at any time, ie when an enemy fleet comes into your space or attacks a POS of yours. It can also last a lot longer, you can easily be part of seiges taking place over hours perhaps days in the longest POS seiges.

After being involvolved in 0.0 combat and now a member of the Caldari Militia I will say that the monetary rewards are lower for FW combat it is more fun though.

And now we've even got a Corp set up in Gallente space for SDN members to join thanks to Hotfoot. Get on over to Pemene VI - Moon II - Wiyrkomi Corporation Factory and look up PRFY Industries under the Offices Tab. We'll have some fun and blow shit up, maybe make some e-money...

Sorry if I go a little off-topic, but I don't know this game...is it similar to Pardus? Or it is more like Ogame? Could anyone give me a brief introduction?

I haven't the slightest clue what either of those games are like, but Eve is basically a space MMO that has a very heavy focus on PvP. Everyone plays in the same universe and you can be killed at any time. There are "safe" zones where the police will kill anyone who attacks you, but that does not protect you so much as provide consequences to your attacker.

The game actively encourages you to be a clever bastard. Scams and infiltrating corps for the purpose of robbing them blind are not only allowed by the ToS, but are essentially the order of the day. There's been some truly epic shit, like a guy who stole over 790 billion credits, equivalent to $170,000. Or an assassin's guild that infiltrated a corp as part of a plan stretching over an entire year, before stealing a huge portion of that corp's assets and assassinating the CEO (the original target of the contract) all in one night.

It also has a fully functioning economy, most of the things that you buy and sell on the market are player made. Hotfoot can probably give you a better rundown but I'd also suggest looking at the Wikipedia article and the official website.

Just to add unlike Pardus and OGame, your are in individual flying 1 ship with and against other players in their 1 ships, not an empire building game (though in the strictest sense it is possible to build up an empire of sorts).

EVE online is a space game where you take control of a character amoungst thousands of other players. The basic goal is to earn money so you can get better equipment and skills. You need to train skills inorder to fly the bigger ships and use the best equipment. Unlike most Online Games you dont gain 'xp' for kills etc. You train skills over REAL time and the larger skills take longer to train.

You can do various things in EVE but the main focus is on player vs player combat either as solo or in fleets. Thus, getting in with a good group of players will help greatly and becomes required if you want to go down certain roads. I found that X3 is probably the closest match to EVE with Freelancer having some similarity as well.

Here is the link to the official website where you can learn about the game:

I've decided to try the 14 day free trial under the name of Graltor Dessik. It's unlikely that I'll buy a subscription immediately after the trial period is over (I have no job, and as soon as I get one, my financial concerns will be elsewhere for a while), but I may reactivate my account at a later date.

One nice thing in eve is that your skills train even while your account has lapsed. So you can set a long skill training just before your game time expires and when you have money to reactivate the skill will be done.

I suppose I might swing by, Pemene used to be one of my old stomping grounds, the name is Caoim Fearghul

Haha no. You can't get into Goonfleet unless you are a Goon or they take pity on you for being so dumb as to mail them millions of ISK.

It's basically official Goonfleet policy to scam any non-goon attempting to join the bandwagon for as much as possible- the best/densest ones have gone for upwards of a billion.

You forgot sponsors.

And the likelihood of being sponsored by a goon is actually very low.

They do not like people. Only some of them will even consider it.
