Two weeks ago I purchased a new Nokia N95 8GB from Orange and have been really happy with the phone until yesterday, when I was caught in the middle of a rain storm. I put the phone in the inside zipped pocked of the waterproof jacket I was wearing and legged it in the direction of my flat. The jacket had protected the phone from the rain but due the the material its made out of it had got quite sweaty inside the pocket and when I got back and took the phone out I found that there were now several large dark spots on the screen that are particuarly noticable when a light colour is being displayed. So anyone that has an N95, be careful to keep it dry at all times as it appears to be quite vunerable to condensation.
Anyway I phoned Orange and they told me it was covered by the insurance (I would have thought it should have been the warranty as if you are going to sell a phone in the UK then you would expect it to be able to survive a little condensation given that it rains here all the bloody time). So they are going to ship me a reconditioned phone, can anyone on SDN that has previously had a reconditioned mobile tell me if this is anything to worry about? It was brand new and i'm not that keen on it being replaced with a 2nd hand model thats been repaired, however I have never had a reconditioned phone before so I don't know if i'm being too picky here.
Oh and finally if anyone does have this model of phone, can you recommend a good case for it as hopefully this may stop it from happening again (as its obviously going to rain again here, some time soon)?
Thanks.

I use this. I'm on my second one after I accidentally broke a thin piece of it near the keypad when I stowed the casing, stupidly I might add, in my pocket and not on the phone. Very good though, and cheap. But I do notice some minor dints in the screen as if grit was pushed into and marked the screen despite the casing.
As for water, my N95 has never had any issues in light drizzle, though I try not to put delicate electronics through hell.

Thanks for the info guys. My replacement phone has arrived now and as far as can tell it looks brand new. It even has a newer version of the firmware on there. So all in all its rather double plus good.
My case is in the mail so until it arrives i'm just going to have to take extra care with it (or possibly keep it in a sock )
