Xbox360 Problem

So gents.....

Recently, (as in the past couple of days) my 360 has decided to start acting an ass. It's thankfully, not a RRoD, but I think the DVD drive in it has gone to shit....

Here's what it's doing....on occassion, the DVD drive wll refuse to "spit out" when I press the open tray button. It takes a couple tries, you hear the lil gears whirring to spit it out, but it does not. On occassion, it won't even read a DVD (usually this happens after the DVD has been cleaned due to smut on the playing side..). It doesn't error code or anything, just reads it as nothing, and says "open Tray" on the dashboard instead of "Play Disc"

That was until this morning....

This morning I tried putting in a Game DVD (perfectly clean, nothing wrong with it at all) and the same thing happened. I tried several different other DVD's and games...and the same damn problem arises..

So..should I send it off to MS for warranty (it is less than a year old..) or is this something I could possibly fix with a little ingenuity and elbow grease.......

If you try to fix it yourself, you'll void your warranty.

There are a number of known problems with the DVD drive, and since you're still within the one year warranty period I'd call them and see if they will fix it. If you were out of the one year window, it would cost $100 to fix, as the RROD is the only thing that lasts for three years. In other words, get it fixed now before it's too late!

Well...I went ahead and gave them a call.

They agreed that the DVD Drive is well and truly fucked...but they regret to inform me I have to call back later to get a RO because their system is down and is updating.

Ah well......

I had this not long ago, it's a relatively painless process, but because you aren't RRODing you'd better pray that you are still in warranty.
