Just wondering if maybe I'm the only one to bother grabbing and playing them all (including Alter Code F).. but I'm definitely in love with the series (I'm playing Wild ARms 5 now.) and it seems it would deserve alot of the acclaim you see leveled at Final Fantay (which has become overrated IMHO since 7...)

I've played the first and third, quite liked them, especially the fantasy western design sensibility of the third game.
I think part of the reason they haven't gotten the attention of some other franchises is because the first two games were not massively original. I can't really think of anything that set the first one apart from the RPG herd at the time, and I think the drive to include a 3D battle system (first one in an RPG, I think) was a mistake, given that all the sprite art outside of battle was really detailed and pretty, and the 3D engine for the battles battles was, not to put too fine a point on it, dire.
The PS1 entries really don't stand well alongside games like Lunar: SSSC, Breath of Fire 3, Star Ocean 2, and Grandia as PS1 RPGs. Wild Arms 3 probably should have gotten more love though.

Count me among the fans for WA3.

I LOVE the first Wild Arms. I played the ever loving crap out of it when it came out. I picked up wild arms 3 a while back too, though I didn't like it nearly as much. I had so much nerd rage that everyone and their dog could synchronize with ARMS that it sort of killed the experience for me.
Still want to play Alter Code F.

I've played the first two; I liked the first better however. I never did try the third.

3 was a very good game; I've played Alter Code F and 5, but haven't gotten as much into them.

I love Wild Arms 3, I must have played that game all the way through about 4 times now, and I even found all the EX File keys so I could start over with all my stats and hard earned Gella!
I liked the evil alien invaders subplot, and once you find the Secret Garden you don't have to worry about Heal Berries again.
WA2 was cool too.

Adam,
I played the very first Wild Arms game on the PS1. I remember muddling through it whilst lying on my back in my living room, "suffering" from a bad case of sciatica and dieting on an Atkins Diet variant for my first show.
Since I was in pain and doing a [literally!] stupid diet, you should probably take my recollections with a grain of salt
But I'll say this: I thoroughly enjoyed that game.
Did I find it as thrilling and enjoyable as, say,
Chrono Trigger or, IMO, the pinnacle of all RPGs, Final Fantasy VI? (I know that entails an altogether different argument. If someone wants to debate with me why FF6 is inferior to 7 or later incantations, please feel free to start a new topic about as much.)
No. But it was still a
lot of fun.
I'm only sorry my experience with the WA series is so limited. I don't remember very much about the game at all save that I enjoyed the experience and that it gave me hours of pleasure whilst I spent most of my down-time on my back.
