Fable II Horrible Problem

This game is so damn fun, but there's been a bit of a glitch.
I was doing Assassinations for most of my money early on until I could buy up properties. Unfortunately, the target for my latest contract was a guy named "Mark" who was inventing a new style of government that would stop crime.
I set the target and head towards him, becoming a little concerned when the trail led me into my marital home, after all I didn't want to draw a weapon in front of my dear 2nd wife (who quite literally could not say "no") and wreck my standing with her. I get upstairs and I found the target...
...it was my infant son.
I had renamed him "Stewie" early on and forgotten his original name was Mark. And because of Fable's "no killing kids" mechanic, I had no way of getting rid of the target.
Fast forward a couple hours, things were going swimmingly with my third wife in Oakfield while the second wife in Bowerstone is being a bit Schizo. Probably because I murdered about 40 guards and then accepted Community Service before going to try and collect my present from her. So I ended up just shooting her and making my second son disappear to that mysterious child agency (if he's anything like his pop he'll do just fine as a bandit or something somewhere with his older half brother) thinking that I would be able to resume assassinations soon.
Unfortunately here's where the glitch got glitchier, as the "MArk" character regenerated in a city street, as a cradle with an infant inside.
I'm hoping it will go away on its own but so far that has not happened and i'm worried that it's going to be there for the rest of the game. Oh well, at least that's just one facet out of many that appeal to me.

Whatever it is, I want it. Although, given the style of the game and your actions, it is probably a totalitarian police state.
And because of Fable's "no killing kids" mechanic, I had no way of getting rid of the target.
That was your first reaction?
Honestly, this is something for Fable 2's customer services. Telling us just reinforces the impression you are a sociopath. Which, to be fair, is how the majority of the board acts.

Am I missing something here, or are people just goofing around? It's just a game. In games you are regularly asked to commit acts of incredible violence at scales that far exceed that of killing a single infant. Why the horrified reaction to frustration at having a quest glitch? It's not like he had intentionally taken the "Assassinate Babies" quest, and I'm not sure why murdering 100 people before he was asked to stab his kid is perfectly acceptable.

Yes it was.
A) It's a game. While I like to play a character that, though evil, is a good family man, I also wanted to get that mission out of the way, right now every time the game screen comes up I have an unfinished job and no way of progressing in it. I'd LIKE to be able to enjoy the full game as it is without having to start over at the beginning. I don't have a problem with the kids=immune to death thing, but the computer should not be assigning them as assassination targets accidentally so then.
B) It's a game. I posted this to try and fix a glitch or see if this has happened to anyone else. I'm sorry to see that you've chosen to take the Jack Thompson angle on this and condemn me.
C) It's a game I can have more children in the game whenever I want, but 900 gold is 900 gold

Although technically not a bastard the child was Evil and Aggressive and had the Temple of Shadows as his favorite place.

You do realize you rake in rent every 15 minutes? You can easily make 900 gold in an hour.

Wow- you are a good family man. Of course, the kid is evil, so he might just stab you in the back. Just saying.
It's not like he had intentionally taken the "Assassinate Babies" quest, and I'm not sure why murdering 100 people before he was asked to stab his kid is perfectly acceptable.
Some of us have a problem with getting our hands dirty, you know. You don't kill people by the ones and twos, close and personal. No, you bump them of by the hundreds from your command center, with your troops doing the bloody parts. That is the
civilized way. Or, you can be even more pure and push a button and kill billions with a single stroke.
On a more serious note, Fable 2 has you bathed in money and health- there is no real reason to be evil unless you feel like role playing or causing pain to animated people. Of course, there are an unlimited number of citizens, so I guess you are helping to keep the population from over running their carrying capacity.

On Topic:
A quick search is showing that i'm not the only one this has happened too, but I haven't found any method for resolving it.
Side Note:
Samuel, quit being a fucking prick and derailing the thread. I'm not trying to play mod but you're turning a thread I started about a glitch into some sanctimonious rant against playing as an evil character in Fable II. It's a FUCKING VIDEO GAME.
And as evidence for hypocrisy let me just quote you on this.

Since you're obviously not talking about the game in question, should I assume your bullshit here is about REAL people? Should I just naturally assume that you hold fantasies of killing "billions with a single stroke?"

Fable 2 is just glitchy like that and there's not a lot you can do about it. When I got back from (trying to avoid spoilers) the mission that sets it so that the babies can turn into actual kids, I returned to my marital home to find a wife that had disappeared off the face of the earth and a totally non-responsive child where the cradle had been (as in, responded to no expressions, never moved, never animated, never did anything) and couldn't find any way to fix it.

Yeah, it's bugged to hell. You'll have to wait/pray it gets patched to a reasonable level.

Sarcasm- look at my avatar. It was a tactful way of admitting it was hypocritcal of me to mock you when I do something similar. Of course, I could say that the difference is "choice", but we both know that is BS for the current gen RPG's.
As for my meglomania... oh yeah. I did play Gal Civ 2- you drown your enemies in a sea of bodies. The correct insult would be that I get off on fantacies of killing billions- after all, thinking about playing a RTS would otherwise count. The answer is no.
On topic, they are coming out with a patch
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3170935
It doesn't seem to cover your problem though. Basically, you are screwed until it gets fixed, or some other gamer fixes it.
Stark is right by the way- the forums have 43 pages of bug complaints. So, even if you fix this, it is possible if you play the game again, you will get another problem. Oblivian was like this to when it came out. Anyone know how long it took them to make the game mostly bug free?

I'm more concerned how the assassination guy knows an infant will invent a new government style. Do they have prognosticators on the level of Minority Report?

It was a prophecy given to the leader of the criminal Assassin's Guild by the Oracle, saying that the man known as Mark would come for him and destroy his criminal Empire and restore peace to the land forever through an uprising of the masses. So you were sent to find and kill the child before he could grow--and if it were not for the barest hint of fatherly love that still pulses in his Assassin's heart, the child would have died. Instead, he kills the mother to cover his tracks, and disappears the child to be adopted and raised by another family. And one day perhaps they shall meet again, the son not knowing his true father, or what he had done for his son--and will this stay his avenging son's blade of Assassin-killing justice?
Clearly, the story is just that deep.

That was
deep. Of course, you avoided the prompt, but it was badly written anyways- who needs it? Do you do any fan fiction?
I also realized my apology was vaguly written enough to be assholy. I'm sorry. I could go into detail how I was partially right, but no one gives a damn.
On topic I found another with your problem...

Huzzah! The glitch fixed itself, sorta.
It went away after I completed the quest in the Spire. I'm thinking what possibly happened is that the sprite for the infant went away as it would have turned into an older child and then somehow everything righted itself.
No other glitches have occurred in my game file other than that, so i've been fortunate.

No, but I have had multiple assassination contracts put out ony my various wives. Which I don't see as much of a glitch there as much as I see bad luck.

been playing through this...on the last third of the storyline (late adult), and I'm finding it rather...boring in comparison to the original.
It's just tedious on alot of things.
Not to say it's still not enjoyable on certain things, but compared to the original, it's meh.

DarkSilver i'd have to agree with you, What Fable II delivers in improved character interaction and more in-depth towns, it gives up horribly in other areas. I'd say that this game really could have benefitted from more quests, especially more renewable quests akin to the "Slave Rescue" that comes up before and after you win the game.
The Gargoyle and Silver Key hunting is nice as an aside but I'm not very interested in finishing them. I would have loved to see Knothole Glade, Hook Coast, and perhaps the Northern Wastes. At least they are letting me carry weapons into Bowerstone though now.
Hopefully there will be some cool DLC to eventually come out.
