"Microsoft Registry Server has stopped working"

Right now I am trying to install Dexter 2.0, an audio file editer, so that I can screw about with Age of Mythology's sound files with reckless abandon. The installation works well all the way until the very end, when it is finishing the installation, then an error message pops up and says "Microsoft(C) Registry Server has stopped working". This update only goes away when I abort the installer. Just to see if I could I tried to run the program anyway, and it said that a certain ocx file had not been registered. Subsiquent re-installs have not helped.
Does anyone know how I might be able to get the registration server to work? I am running Vista Home.
