Resistance 2 Spoilers.

This came out today, I picked up my copy and have forgone my gym time today for it.
So this is the sequel to "Resistance: Fall of Man", and IMHO lives true to the events from teh first game. You come back as Lt. Nathan Hale from the first resistance, but you are typically joined by several AI teammates at any given time.
Many familiar weapons are back, but with more functions and different appearances in some cases.
Not to go too in depth, but giant monster fights are in, tons of baddies are on screen, and you fight the fucking predator... sort of.
Give it a try!

Is it just me or is this game Fucking harder than the first one?
I can't get through a single level without getting killed at least once by some freaking Grey ballsack.
And I fucking hate those cloaking things. I spray a room with gunfire, and toss explosives into it, then move in thinking it's clear, then BOOM. one of the damn things comes flying out of nowhere.

Yeah it's much harder, I'm doing this on easy and it plays like medium on the first one. I've died my ass off quite a bit. The swarm is a real pain though. Have fun with that.

I'm guessing it's a whole fucking lot of those really fast zombie things that can one or two-hit you?

Sorry, so far, this game's destroyed my faith in Insomniac to make good games.
The allies are almost useless, and generally only survive if they're flagged invincible. The enemies seem dumber than the last game, and the maps feel much less inspired. (In fact, as of chapter 4, they're downright bland...)
Maybe it'll get better in the latter half... But I really doubt it. Especially since the weapons that aren't the two rifles have ridiculously low ammo limits... 16 TOTAL shots for the shotgun is unforgivable when you can only hold two weapons total.

I agree with you. I would like to have had the weapons tree from the first game, and much more ammo overall. I find it necessary to change my guns way too often. I was satisfied with the level design however, I guess Chimera architecture can only be made so interesting. Even with these problems, I still like playing this and hope to see how it ends.

It's not so much the architecture that makes me dislike it. As the fact that the majority of the game has literally been a hallway.
The first game had a fair about of "go this way to proceed" but most major engaugements happened in fairly open areas, in which flanking was possible, and getting flanked was a risk. Not to mention that the basic enemies were a bit sturdier... (The chimera foot soldiers go down in like 4-6 carbine rounds... Hell, 1 magnum round anywhere has downed most common foes.)
And there're just too many OHKO "oops yer dead" enemies... I'm only playing on normal, and I can't imagine what hard's going to be like. (I seriously doubt I'll play it again...)

The second half of your post has my chief complaint about this game. I capital F'ing hate unkillable enemies. The furies especially. The enemies are very tough, I wish I had more ammo.

Another thing about this game. No driving portions! I was really looking forward to driving the tank or a jeep again. You figure, hey fighting across the USA, lets drive cross country, but noooo lets stroll around and leave the heavy armor tantalizingly out of reach. Did anyone mention how dark this game is? It's retardedly dark, inexcusable when combined no way to adjust the brightness in game. Yes folks, your TV isn't broken, the game is.
I beat this this morning, I wonder whats next.

Dear god the enemies. I freaking hate those Inviso-mutants that pop out of nowhere, even though I just freaked out and sprayed the room with gunfire, but nope! can't touch them until right before they fucking one-hit you.
And those damn things in the water piss me off. They're there for no reason other than to make you avoid water. They add nothing to the game, and you can't shoot them. Apparently water magically stops bullets, energy blasts, and rockets.

What? 8-bit gameplay from a linear Halo-em-up? Who would have guessed right?
It's too bad Insomniac decided to develope a game from 1998 on a console from 2006. I played the first Resistance a few months ago and was sickened by it. That's the best the vaunted Insomniac could do? A linear corridor stroller? I tuned into the R2 gameplay videos back and E3 and was largely unsurprised to find the game was STILL set in hallways and tight, linear canyons. In a weird fit of hatred for their own fanbase, Insomniac even decided to show off photos of huge rolling plains and forests...that you can't actually go to.
But I hear having gimmicky guns makes the game cool.

For those who still care, I've found this brightness issue fix while searching the gamefaq's forum:
GameFaqs
Go into your display options under system in the XMB and witch RGB full range from full to limited. It works.
It works great for me, it's almost like playing a new game.

Limited Range RGB looks washed out and horrible though. If the brightness isn't right, adjust the brightness, not the RGB range.

Yeah normally, but with my TV, altering the PS3 settings was the only way to get a clear image. For some reason, adjusting my tv's brightness was ineffective.
