Lets make this simple. I have one copy of Galactic Civilizations 2 to give away. This shall be done by giving you my legal CD-key (the only thing you recieve when buying the game) by email.

The rules are simple: Post a short story (preferred) or a amusing reason why you deserve to get the game. Bonus points for including anything relating to the in-game Galactic Civilization verse.

The giveaway shall be open for three weeks.

I should get it because I already have a copy of Galactic Civ II so I could take your extra copy and resell it for a tidy profit, thereby doing my part to support capitalism.

I should receive your CD key, because I absolutely loathe DRM, in fact I recently wrote a paper on the topic. This means that I'm a huge fan of Stardock and their refusal to punish honest customers by including DRM in their games. It's just that for all my high minded morals and outrage at DRM, I have not actually supported Stardock and their philosophy by BUYING their product. How this entitles me to a free copy of the game I do not know. But then again, reading about my hypocrisy might have amused you, so there you have it.

You should give me your CD key because I lost my original copy of the game, and I need a good 4T game when I go offshroe in December.

Why should you give me your CD key?

Well for starters I love this freaking game, even if I can never find enough liquid cash or willpower to buy it outright. I love the demo to death and got a perverse joy from spreading across space to fill it with my culture, the only way to win in the brutally short turn limit that is provided with the demo. But saddly, the Demo will not install on my computer these days. At all. I am demo-less, and suffer greatly for it. Space Empires 5 cannot fill this void in my life. Nor can any game available on CD, for my computer's Cd drive had failed me and now lies silent. Except for that one Beach Boys CD, but that's an abomination unto my ears. A game I can play without a CD and that is of great personal enjoyment to me is very welcome.

Also, the Drengin need to be put down by every species in the galaxy at least once, before I lead them to total and utter victory in the most crushing military victory I'll ever stage.

So I can play versus STRAK and be all "pew pew i fired my von clausewitz" and more importantly, since he has created Dalek and Cybermen custom fleets I will create a custom HALO fleet and fill him with SHEER HATRED MWAH HA HA.

Amusing short story it is. I hope it is at least readable and that it is not to corny.

"Commander, incoming tansmission." Lt. Olaf announced from his station.

"What now?" Commander Invictus Fricassee Chiken turned around from the real time holo-display that showed the current situation in the Bucolic Nebula, things did not look well for the Gallusian Commonwealth: The Empire of Bovīnus and recently taken the twin outposts of Foghorn and Leghorn, The Union of Sus Scrofa 5 had overrun Fort Kyle Francis Calhoun, somehow the Commander doubted this would be good news.

Lt Olaf read the transmission, "Sir a being calling itself Ace Pace is offering a code that is said to unlock the Legendary Second Galactic Civilizations."

"The Legendary Second Galactic Civilizations? Just think with that we could explore new space frontiers. Battle aliens a lot better than our Cow and Pig knock offs. Design warships and best of all if we lose we can restart. Plus the Author loves 4x games and never got a chance to play this one." Commander Chiken stated going into one of his trade mark overly long speeches.

"That said" He continued, "is there any reason we should trust him? remember what that Clue fellow did to us awhile back, dropping the entire GCS Sanders into an overgrown deep firer, I do not wish to relive the experience." Commander Chiken shuddered, his feathers bristling at the thought of going through that again.

"Q" First Officer Boo the Robotic Chicken responded.

"Pardon First Officer?" Every since Boo had been injured by a fast moving Bovīnian land cruiser and been given robotic implants he'd been a little off. At least he no longer suffered his multiply identity crises that had made many question Commander Chikens wisdom in recruiting Boo to his high rank.

"Q, Sir. The Beings name was Q" The First Officer answered.

"I see," The Commander answered, "Well at any rate CAN we trust this Ace Pace to give us the code if we give him what he wants?"

"I believe so sir," Olaf replied, "At least the Plot Scanners show he is trust worthy. He wishes us to destroy Southboro Temple."

"Southboro? You mean the hated Terrorist Organization behind the "The Gods Hates Yaois an Yuris hates them I say!" and the "The Gods Hates NonHatchers, hates them I say!" movements? (Although how anyone can expect a family to hatch all the eggs they lay is beyond me...) The Temple that is in no way related to a bunch of real life sons of bitches for legal reasons plus the author of this story being a total pussy that does not wish to incur the legal wraith there of?" The Commander asked.

"I HEARD THAT!" Shouted the Author.

"QUIT YOU!" The Bridge crew and several readers responded.

"Sorry," The Author apologized.

"The Same sir and excellent exposition be the way." Lt. Olaf responded.

"Thank you," Very well... "Lt. McNugget plot a course for Southboro Temple, Lt. Ro'Stir raise shields and arm weapons. Damn Galatic Law we got the Author in our pocket he Deus Ex Machina us out of any legal situation."

"Why the Fuck would I?" The Author's voice responded from everywhere at once.

"Because you really want this game that's why!" Commander Chiken shot back.

"You know Ace Pace never said the story had to have a happy ending." The Author said with a warning tone to his voice.

"Umm right sir, we will just go along and try not to provoke you." Commander Chiken responded.

"Good creations, anyway it's not like you'll get more than a show trail. Remember this lot urinated on the grave of an infant killed in one of there terror attacks. Plus there terrorists, your military. You do the math man!"

"Ahem right." Commander Chiken responded.

"Sir we have arrived." Lt. McNugget responded.

"Excellent fire at the bigots!" Commander Chiken roared.

High Priest Frank Laquesadic was working in his garden when he heard an odd whistling sound. He looked it to see several purplish spheres heading his way. Realization of they they where and a regret he could never make another child cry at there big sisters funeral again hit him moments before the anti-mater torpedoes did.

Commander Chiken and his crew would be taken before an inquiry that could only concluded "Why the fuck wasn't this done sooner!?" Before being given the Elder McDonald award for service to the Commonwealth.

I should receive it because I have never played Galactic Civilizations 2, and thus am apparently missing out on lots of awesome. Thus would this game go to one in need, and it would surely find a good and loving home.

I'm not taking part in Ace's contest, because I hate him...er... ... I mean, because I already have a copy of the expansion packs; as a new player, I have to say, the game is excellent and if you're even remotely interested, you should get it - I was expecting basically Civ with a different background and some different user pictures, but this game is so much fun!

At first I thought the ship building thing (whilst not necessary) was something I'd never really be arsed to play with... a week later, and I've got Tie fighters, bombers, interceptors and defenders, plus bulk cruisers, action vi freighters, and the list only stops there because the 'immense' map is a slow game with a lot of research to do. I know you can find ship packs online, but it's bizarrely satisfying to personally design your own, seeing an Action VI transport doing my colonising and a bulk freighter doing my mining. Plus the game is about twice as addictive to me as Civ after barely a week of playing.
