Okay, so my new cheapass wi-fi card came yesterday and since I'm lame and in the mood for some boring corridor shooting I got Steam and Half-Life (and Opposing Force and Blue Shift too) installed.

Problem: For whatever reason the 'w' and 's' keys (probably the 'a' and 'd' keys too but I haven't had that happen yet) lock up after a few seconds of holding them down and I stop moving in game until I stop pressing them and start again.

I have no idea why the shit that should happen since it doesn't happen outside the game or in other FPS games, or non FPS games. I forget the exact model but it's a Microsoft multimedia wireless keyboard.

This is dumb.

Do you have sticky keys turned on?

Yeah, sounds like sticky keys, it's for people who are missing fingers, gets activated when you press shift 5 times in a row or something like that.

Here's how to check if they're on and how to disable them if they are.

No, it's not sticky keys. I turned that off when it kept dumping me out of The Ur-Quan Masters, and a quick check to be sure shows that it's still off.

Man, I hope the solution isn't to switch this thing with my old board, that thing's really gross.

Crap, after fiddling around some more, it seems like it's a problem with the mouse and keyboard being used at the same time. Well fuck, I guess it's back to the old board. Knew I should've returned this thing the moment I realized it wasn't the cheapass wired keyboard I thought I had picked up.
