Is there a way to turn off Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet for Vista? Turns out this is why I keep getting disconnected from WoW, at least according to the WoW tech people.

Are you sure you can disable PPPoE?

I would be very surprised if it was on. PPPoE is a pretty uncommon protocol for Desktop machines. Maybe check the Network and Sharing Center and see if you have a PPPoE connection setup?

Did they give you some reasons why they thought PPPoE was the problem?

Uh, actually, it's required by some DSL ISPs. Mine for instance if you're using one of their newer modems. Otherwise, AFAIK, it shouldn't be active unless it's in use.

Well sure, I have a firewall computer that uses it too. But I also had to go out of my way to find a DSL modem that would allow me to connect that way. Most DSL modems (obviously not the ones that your ISP uses) handle the whole PPP thing by themselves. But I think we can safely agree that either dragon needs PPPoE or it's probably not turned on.

Dragon, what's your internet setup like anyways? Do you even have DSL?
