Boot Up/logging into Windows problem.

So, when I boot my computer it takes forever and a day for Firefox to open up...often freezing. If Firefox hasn't successfully opened up(that is, displaying the start up page) by the time Windows idles and locks up, then it's impossible to get into Windows. This also seems to occur if I use IE.
AVG can't seem to find anything wrong, I've done Disk Defrag and cleanup, confirmed that it sees both sticks of RAM, even popped open the case and air-dusted the inside. The problem has started within the last month, specifically with the instlallation of FO3. FO3 on my comp has problems locking up and forcing me to reboot the computer, whcih is when I first noticed this problem. I had associated the problem solely with FO3, but this morning my computer had rebooted itself during the night following a Windows update and the problem occured with that was well.
Thoughts?
