Service Pack 3 broke MSN Messenger

Like it says on the tin. I avoided SP3 for half a year after its release in hopes that I would dodge the inevitable host of bugs that accompanies launch - so, logically, after I install it and reboot, then open up Windows Live Messenger to send a document to my friend, the whole thing locks up like a safe as soon as I start a file transfer. After ten or twelve seconds it becomes responsive again, but attempting another file transfer causes it to lock up before I can even select the file. Again, it works after a dozen or two seconds - but file transfer cannot be accepted by the intended recipient.

Ditto for old school MSN. AIM appears to work fine.

Has anyone else encountered this problem or a similar one?

Aw man, I finally got the Automatic Updates to give me SP3. I can probably hold it off for a month or so, but it'll eventually update itself. Should I just stop it? I've been keeping up to date with my other updates from MS, do I need SP3?

If you want to keep up to date with windows patches, then yes, you need it. Future patches from MS will require it.

I have yet to experience any problems with it, but then again I don't use MSN messenger. Maybe a reinstall would help you along?
