COD4 Multiplayer classes

I picked up COD4 for XB360 for cheap. The online multiplayer is alright, and after spending the first week "avoid" and "preference" voting other players during matches, I'm starting to consistently get few retarded opponents.

What are your favorite custom classes and perks?

I used to roll mostly with an AK-74u+Silencer and the UAV jammer perk, but recently I discovered that the M16+Red Dot optic and Double tap perk is a murder machine.

Also any COD4 XB360 players up to play regularly?

You know there are whole websites devoted to COD4 builds, right? :)

A bunch of SDNers play, but from what I've seen on my friends list many of them have moved to WAW.

A class I have a ton of fun with is...

M21 + ACOG
Extra Ammo
Stopping Power
Deep Impact

Originally I had designed this class out of frustration that the M-14 wasn't available at early levels. A "poor man's M-14" if you will. Ironically I unlocked the M-14 later and hated it.

Bah, anyone can be good with the M-16.

Stark: I still play CoD4, mainly because I found WAW boring. It failed to rekindle that "United Offensive" feeling in me. :)

JSF tells me that the multi is fine, regardless of the terrible SP (frankly I think CoD4's sp was fucking horrid).

Pulp Hero, you've just got to get some shit filters. :) They might be sadsack idiots who can't string a sentence together, but they've generally played everything ever with every combination and have broken the system.

I heavily reccomend the M-60 with red dot sight, Double tap, and a perk of your choice. Kills faster than just about any other gun out there at close to mid range.

Protip: Submachine guns rawk.
Proertip: Silencers usually=Kill streaks
Proisttip: People rely far to much on UAV.

So my advice, when you get enough levels

Skorpion+Silencer
Bandolier (this isn't optional, once you get better you'll run outta ammo hella quick)
UAV Jammer (again, not optional, this is what gives this build it's true dirt bagedness
Whatever you want, usually Martyrdom or Extreme Conditioning, or have some random fun with Eavesdrop.

This one is perfect for sneaking around and getting kills, notably on Wet Work for douches sniping from the bridge in my own experience. That's my other advice, don't trust UAV to much, cause that's how I've gotten most of my kills.

Also
RPD+Red dot, optional, iron sights on that gun are great
Claymores
Stopping Power
Again, really whatever you want, if you decide to snipe with this gun then deep impact, if you run and gun the matyrdom.

Other than that, experiment with what works for you.

You really can’t fail with perk and weapon combinations in COD4 for the consoles, except that you can’t really use an SMG on the more open maps effectively and the M249 sucks crap for anything. Other then that, yeah you really can’t go wrong. The PC version is much more demanding of weapons choices.

The M-16 and M-4 are of course the bread and butter of lazy players everywhere. That being said, my favorite class is as follows:
G-36 w/ red dot sight
Frag x3
Stopping Power
Deep Impact

There is also the most asshole-ish class out there:
M1014
RPG
Sonic Boom
Martyrdom

Really? Combine with a red-dot sight and lots of quick successive bursts i've had quite a time with the M249.

That's exactly the case. 4's multi is cool because it did lots of cool stuff that we'd been waiting for other "tacti-cool" FPS games to do. Fix the controls, fix the UI, smooth the gameplay, etc. It's clean, accessible, and easy.

Of course the single player is a different story which we all know. How many guys they got in that closet? A regiment? :)

It's criminal that COD4 didn't have a co-op mode.

Some I like:

"How to get a kick vote in under 30 seconds"
G3 + grenade launcher
M4 + grenade launcher
Overkill
Martyrdom

Four shots with the grenade launcher = 4 kills, you should be able to pick up a 5th for the airstrike pretty easily.

The other two work very well on the PC, but I don't know how well the precise aim required translates to the console. I guess it would, if you're really good. Hardcore only, BTW.

G3 + silencer
Pistol of your choice
Bandolier (G3 eats ammo fast)
Stopping power (G3 is now one shot, one kill)
Last stand (finish your kill streak)

G3 = perfect accuracy, excellent sights, zero recoil, and kills in a single hit 95% of the time. If you can see it, you can kill it.

Or, if you like running:

Skorpion + silencer
Pistol of your choice
Bandolier (25 rounds per clip + insane ROF = ammo problems)
Sleight of hand (you will be reloading almost constantly)
Dead silence (they never hear you coming, even at a full sprint)

The Skorpion may be a SMG, but it has absolutely insane accuracy with even less recoil than the G3. Against anything but a target taking cover on the other side of the longest maps, you will easily hit them with a quick burst. It's actually just barely enough aim error to give you a bit of a cone of fire, so even if your aim is off a little at long range, you'll still hit. Damage suffers a bit compared to the rifles, but with the high ROF of a SMG, you can easily put a lethal 3-5 bullets in the target before the hit icon even pops up. The only real problem for this class is against targets behind cover, penetration sucks, and your accuracy isn't quite good enough to aim for the exposed parts.

I dispute the G3 being one shot, one kill with stopping power. While it was a favourite with Stopping Power, Deep Impact and a red dot sight, you needed to get a head shot for a single shot kill. I find the M16A4 is one of the best guns in the game, and it's the first assault rifle you get.

For SMGs, you really can't fault the MP5. Yeah, people go for the P90 when they get it and it does give you better range and accuracy, but the cyclic rate and stopping power per bullet doesn't give you the "turn around the corner and plaster someone before they even tap fire" ability the MP5 does, which puts it above shotguns in my mind at times.

For LMGs, the RPD is my favourite with an extra grip for accuracy. You don't need a scope for it's fairly open sights and it has a great fire rate that isn't too fast like the Minimi, or too slow like the M60, yet the rounds offer decent killing power.

I do like having a suppressed G36 with the UAV jamming, silenced USP and the Dead Silence perk. You're able to, on free-for-all, basically wander and kill without anyone knowing.

Your belief that the M249 is crap only reflects on your inability to use it properly. :P

It is, bar none, the most accurate weapon with the grip; with a little bit of trigger discipline and a sharp eye (and obviously good marksmanship) it'll unseat any sniper.

In my experience, on hardcore, G-3 is one-shot kill. With the M-16 on hardcore it's insane, you basically only need to hit them with one out of the three-round burst kill someone.

My build for normal matches

M60 with Red Dot
Perk 1: Bandolier
Perk 2: Stopping power
Perk 3: Deep Impact

I run through a lot of ammo sometimes because I like to lay down suppressing cover fire for my team on games like Ground war.

For hardcore

M60 with Red Dot

Perk 1: RPG, Claymore, or Bomb Squad
Perk 2: UAV Jammer
Perk 3: Deep Impact

One thing that always puts a smile on my face is sniping someone on the other side of the map with one shot from the M60.

Pretty much any weapon on hardcore is one shot kill.
