Okay - it's a stealth game. Like Hitman. You're a secret agent (spy) Like Metal gear. It's WWII France.
That's it. sounds terrible right? Well, hang on a sec - you may just get more than you bargained for. To be sure there are stupid elements to it, like The detection radius while you're in shadow and Nazis are looking for you is stupid small - and the AI is retarded on occasion (for instance, you can whistle to get the Nazis attention and they will go to investigate. Of course, by then, you will have moved. Now - if they're not in a good position for stabby-stabby, you whistle again to get him to come investigate it again - so he will go investigate the second whistle, and the third, and the fourth, in perpetuity without firing a shot unless, of course, you leave the shadows or they get within the stupid small detection radius.)
The atmosphere of the game is cool, though - there's no radar, you're loathe to use anything but your knife to killy kill with, and the music is amazingly appropriate. The Nazis actually do speak german (Instead of english with a german accent) and the environments are really well done. I don't think this game is a purchase, but definitely rent it, and hopefully look for more in the future - while the game is not ZOMG JAWSOME - it's for sure a really good springboard from which some potentially excellent future titles might launch.
