Meet The Spy(Leaked)

Post by Mr Bean »

Does Valve go above and beyond with every one of these videos?
Your damn right they do...
Supposed to be part of the update for next week but it was leaked early and is making the internet rounds. Only Valve puts this kind of effort in what are in essence nothing more than promotional material for a multiplayer only game.

Pretty neat, butSpoiler
I had the Scout pegged as the Spy right from the door-code scene.

For some reason I can't help but find the TF2 videos more entertaining than the actual game itself.

These keep getting better and better, frankly. This Meet the video has definitely been the best, even better than Meet the Sniper.

Turns out weeks to make a single short is easier than patching a complex multiplayer game? :D

Who knew?

I also thought the Scout was the Spy at first, until the Heavy and Blu Spy showed up.

I love the control room they've got, with all the options. Almost makes me want to get this game...

You mean the board that lights up with "INTRUDER ALERT - RED SPY - IN BASE"? Because that's not in the game.

Yeah, that was great.

Though with the quality up this time... some of that sign is amusing. "Found Dracula," "Lost Dracula," in order vertically: "Red Pyro," "Is a man," "Is a woman,"

May 18, 2009 - Robin Walker

As many of you know, the Meet the Spy video was leaked this weekend. Some of you on the forum have wondered if Valve leaked it on purpose. And until we find the clown who did leak it, the answer to that is yes.

Others of you have started a petition to stop Valve from firing anyone over the leak. Once again, this just goes to show you how valuable customer feedback is to us—we hadn't even thought of doing that, but once you see it there in print, it's a fantastic idea. I've been asking people all morning who was responsible and come up empty. But now that I've started firing people, they can't name names fast enough. So far I've got sixty-seven names in the "suspicious" category, fifteen in "very suspicious", and another forty-three I'd been wanting to fire anyway.

I'll keep you posted as I track down the culprit. Rest assured, though: Until I find the person responsible, I vow that Valve will stop work on all projects.
Gotta love that sense of humor

In continuing news: Sniper's 3rd and achievments put up... ... and Valve is dead to me.

If you ain't heard yet: it's Jarate unless they're trolling us again.

I had some hope for this update, because the spy unlocks so far have seemed quite useful in the trade offs. While I'd hoped the sniper weapons so far were jokes... The bow seemed useful enough, but the Razorback is way underpowered for anything it replaces.

But this... is just... stupid. The stats for it are alright, extinguishing teammates is decent... but it's just, juvenile...

You're telling me you didn't see this coming? It was hinted at in "Meet the Sniper", and IIRC, mentioned weeks, if not months ago. Hell, it's on that alert board from "Meet the Spy", too (around the lower right corner).

Also note the names of those achievements, including:

Not a Crazed Gunman, Dad
Be Polite
Be Efficient
Have a Plan
[to] Kill Everyone you Meet.

I'd hoped... Quite in vain, that at least the Razorback was a joke. Then this.

While it has some interesting support attributes... It's just silly in a lame way. (Though it might earn a point if they class it as a "lunchbox" like Bonk! and Sandvich.)

As for "hinted," he doesn't actually use it as a weapon in his video. (Cause ya know, he drives a camper van too... but ya don't see that unlock. :P ) When it was mentioned weeks ago, it was on April 1st... Which to some seems brilliant as a we were joking about joking, but as someone who despises the inevitable failure of everything that day it makes me see it as even less of a good idea...

Quick note, the update is Live, Sniper or Spy, which to pick? This raises my hopes the last updates will be a trio, Demoman, soldier and engineer. Or Engineer last.

Well this is fun, I spent four hours online with TF2, got ten spy achivements and six sniper achivements
Number of new weapons?
Zero
Seems to many achievement whores out there, that's fucking wonderful so Valve set it the more you play the more weapons you find, except you can find the same thing, so on my little tour I found three items.

Two "The Sandviches" and one "Flare gun"
To fucking bad I've had those for months now, what hoop must I jump through Vavle to try your shinny new equipment? Worse I've seen people who already have all the spy and/or sniper gear so what random algorithm Valve is using kinda sucks.

Two words: Achievement Servers.

Of course with the clan I am an they have "Achievement Day" so we can get all of our toys without screwing up our stats.
