Anyone interested in a little Jedi Academy action?

I've got a server running that should be up most of the Memorial Day Weekend. It won't be lag free by any means, but it should be a nice alternative from some of the servers up now (bogged down with mods, crappy settings, etc).

No holds barred!

Hm, cool. I was playing some JA not so long ago, maybe I should get it on this. Is it pure vanilla? I usually like to run with saber locks jacked up to max in the config files.

No mods are needed to join. Saber locks are enabled, so if that's your poison you should be fine. We can tweak settings as needed.

I'm AFK for now, but if I'm the only one there, feel free to slice up my corpse and tangle with the bots until I get back or somebody else joins.

If for some reason it doesn't let you join, let me know. I want to be sure there aren't any bugs on the server for later this month when I run it longer...

I just tried to join, and I couldn't get in. It says it's currently on the Bespin map. I'll give it another go.

Sorry about that, I suggest getting the JK2 map pack and the bonus map pack (you should have these anyway, they rock):

Okay, server has crashed, I'm going to bed!

Specifically, the map files you "need" (if the maps are on the cycle) are:

http://strategy.jediknight.net/jka/mods ... a_pack.zip

http://strategy.jediknight.net/jka/mods/JABonusMaps.zip

(unzip, pk3 files into "base" folder)

Will return in about 8-10 hours! New IP will be posted (if different)

Once you told me about those files, I had no problems with the server, other than random and short connection interruptions. It's probably nothing fixable, but on the lava station map, a lot of the bots seemed to just run into walls.

Yeah, the bot routing on that map may be screwed up. I think I made a fix file back in the day, but I'll have to check it out.

Thanks for coming. Hope you can join us today too!

I'm going to be out for an hour or so, but the server is going up in a couple of minutes, same IP!

Btw, feel free to record any demos you like and post them if they turn out fun. Screenshots too.

To record a demo, go into the console (shift ` , that's the tilde key to the left of the 1)
and type:

\g_synchronousclients 1

then

\record <name of demo, keep it one word>

then

\g_synchronousclients 0

(iirc)

and then when you're done,

\stoprecord

It may be a little laggier while recording, btw.

Also, be sure you turn on dismemberment, as this server uses it!

\cg_dismember 3
\g_dismember 100

Hey, sure, once I get the internet back on my desktop. My laptop's integrated graphics card is a bit dated.

Okay, well I guess that's it for tonight, seems to have gone quiet. See you tomorrow perhaps.

Okay just to clarify something, maps are only "needed" when they are in use. I modified the map cycle so that NO custom maps are currently being used. However I would advise getting the maps I listed above because they're good (and all made by Raven software).

I would like to play on them later, and I know it's not a big deal for people to get mods. For ease of joining though I'll give a moratorium on these until such time as people have them. But don't say I didn't warn you! ;)

The maps are set on a 20 frag/30 minute limit, so if you can't get in, just wait a bit and you'll eventually be able to get in.

Fantastic games... and the server is down for the night. Back up in 8-10 hours for the last day, and then it'll be up sometime after June 1st.

Okay, a little late, but it's coming up soon, same IP. It'll remain up for most of the day, and then I'll take it down for my last week of study.

Hope to see you there!
