I was playing dragon age and I quit to desktop, and it was hanging there with a black screen for quite a while. After a while it told me that explorer.exe had frozen, so I hit ctrl alt del and restarted. Upon restarting everything up to the login screen was normal but once I logged in, all I saw was my mouse cursor and a black screen. I can hit ctrl alt del and come up with the normal screen except with no option to start task manager. I tried safe mode and get the same result. Suggestions?

Update: I put in my vista disk and booted from it to start repair. It can't find anything wrong.

Well, I reinstalled vista. It was surprisingly quick. I tried a couple of the fixes I found and none of them were working, and this computer needed to be cleaned out anyways. Could a mod please close this thread?
