Why wasn't Godzilla in Bad Company 2

In the opening mission, with all the crazy horn-blowing business, I was hoping the 'black weapon' was something interesting or cool (even zombies, frankly). It turns out it's just Yet Another EMP Weapon The Japs Had in WWII. Why did you hear it in the South American jungle when the weapon wasn't preparing to fire? Why did it sound for so long in 1943 but only twice in 2010? How does an EMP blast behind a mountain kill guys in a wooden boat? How did they get the compound if those guys died?
Still, better than MW2's story.

It was so that they could mock the MW2 EMP thing.
I was half-expecting some freeze-ray equipped aliens to show up. Maybe a giant turtle monster from antarctica.
Who died in a wooden boat?

Oh? I totally missed that. I lol'd at the 'they'd send some pussies with heartbeat sensors or some crap' stuff though.
The guys in project Aurora apparently all died (which is why Aguire turned traitor cause one was his dad) even though you'd think they'd be fine where they were. But hey, the last 1/3 of the game was clearly a rush-job, the last two levels were mega-lame.
And waking up
Godzilla a demon some kind of monster would have been cooler. Especially in the jungle!

I was totally hoping that Project Auroa was a Godzilla. Frankly Bad Company 2's story sucked compared to even the lackluster Bad Company 1 story because at least the Bad Company 1 story knew not to take itself seriously.

There's something about giant horns and earthquakes that always works. Look at Silent Hill (the first one not the shit ones). When it was just a big bang it was a big disappointment. WW2 giant lizard eating US Marines would have been hilarious.

Godzilla would also have made the SP campaign at least half as funny as the first game. That's easily the most disappointing part of Bad Company 2. It's just not funny or humorous at all, which means that the SP campaign is carried almost entirely on the shoulders of it's gameplay, which... at least as far as I've played it, just isn't interesting. At all.

The gameplay in the first game was FAR more interesting by virtue of not being a jungle corridor shooter.

Yeah, there is essentially no flexiblity at all. When the levels open up, there's generally a mounted gun somewhere so you just level the whole place before you go in. The last half of the game is a giant corridor of lameness (especially the drainage canal part of SPAWNING SNIPERS).

Just a random question, but have you seen the WW2-1950s comics in which more or less exactly that happens? I always wanted someone to make a game based on them.

The game's MP has improved somewhat but the single player suffered a lot for it. I really liked BC1's campaign because it at least followed the Halo principle of "BIG linear levels" which made things a lot more interesting. I liked the health system, combining recharging health meters with health bars. It also didn't take itself seriously at all, with Haggard and Sweetwater regularly arguing about best ice cream flavors while blowing a house up.
All that shit disappeared and now the game is 100% generic corridor shooter with grizzled marines and zomg russian invasion.
At least the multiplayer only got better. It has tons of awesome shit like bullet drop, vehicle perks, weapon mods, etc.

For Bad Company 3, maybe they can pick up on this and return more to the parodic elements of the first game? And if they really can't put in Godzilla, maybe a Metal Gear? They could even use Sigint's 'no giant robots are completely silly' speech from MGS3.

Interesting. I might have to pick up a copy of BC1, I imagine it'll be pretty cheap by now. I enjoyed the first Halo, but the sequels were utter shit.

The reason they couldn't get Godzilla is because Godzilla is prejudiced, he only terrorizes the Japanese and maybe some other nations on his way to terrorize the previously mentioned Japanese.

Seeing how they were trying to pull an Indy on that submarine to escape, I half expected it to be the Ark of the Covenant with its face-melting goodness.
But Godzilla was a close second in my list of "it should have been".

It would have been cool to go back to the island in the first mission. Trenches and bunkers overgrown, skeletons and rusted weapons, the place totally abandoned. And then you find dead Russians and lots of blood. Cue making fun of both Halo and World at War while shooting zombies. And then Godzilla shows up?

It should certainly have been something really fruity, like underground beaver armies or something, or letting out shoggoths or meme viruses.
And not, y'know, a foozle.

It's too bad the suddenly serious tone of bad company would never allow any kind of fruity fun. Honestly, from the noise that weapon was making on the island, I figured they'd either woke godzilla or hade made metal gear.

I was really expecting a LOST parody with a giant black smoke cloud that messes stuff up. Also what the hell happened to Haggard between the games? In the first one he was a trigger-happy redneck, in BC2 he is just an asshole.
