Deus Ex: Human Revolution trailer

Formerly "Deus Ex 3".

I get a big fat nerd boner whenever I see augmented reality get it's due in media (See: Heavy Rain), so naturally that + the transhumanism that Deus Ex is built on has me unusually optimistic about this game. But it's being made by Eidos, so that tempers the optimism somewhat.

I don't want to judge anything based on two minute teaser, but I couldn't help but think that was way more interesting than all of the other two games combined. Though it's kind of silly to assume that the actual game will really reflect that level of moody cinematicism. :)

I found the little things, like the box of 10mm pistol round on the table, quite well done.

But the question on if it is an actual good game will remain unanswered untill it is released and I have a chance to play it. And honestly I'm betting on a solid; no.

Ah yes, 10mm AUTO. So badass, it probably causes global warming.

You can say that again. It's clearly just one of those "omfg the game looks so sick" trailers that the companies outsource 3D stuidios to make. Think of the Mass Effect 2 "Blur" trailer, the one for Assassin's Creed 2, the Dawn of War trailer (that ended up becoming it's intro as well)...

Nice video, and nice enhancements, but sadly pre-rendered cinematics don't count.
So we'll see how it turns out (Although I'm smelling a console exclusive on the way).

Still, thanks for the chance to link this:

Square is the new EA/Activision, they seem to have forgotten that their entire claim to fame consists of JRPGs and have started getting their fingers in everything. As for DX3, Stark's whining aside I really liked the first one, so I'll be keeping an eye on it once more information is released.

Let's hope Square don't ruin this one too?

I've been a fan of Square for a while now, but it worries me that they're straying from their roots so much.

They certainly helped fuck Supreme Commander 2 in the ear, so I'm...not encouraged.

It seems to be the way with all companies these days to push innovative games more and more towards the safe road simply because idiots will still buy them.

As opposed to when they 'strayed' from their roots on the PS1?

I guess thinking about it they did branch a fair bit then too, I just didn't notice because I was young and had no knowledge of games back when the PS1 was current.

Squenix is just the publisher anyway, since they bought out Eidos a few months ago. Eidos is doing all (most?) of the development.

I haven't kept up with gaming news lately outside of Rock Band, so it was new to me.
