DVD drive issue

So i've got a slight issue with my DVD drive. For some reason, It won't auto run games or anything else for that matter, and when I click on the disc in the drive it just opens it up in an explorer window. I didn't change any preferences or anything else for that matter. Is the drive starting to die on me, or is it a glitch of some sort?

EDIT: Ok, this seems to be a global preferences issue, since I've also got a virtual drive set up and that won't auto-run games either. I don't even know how to alter the auto-run preferences in Windows, so I have no idea how this happened, but at least my DVD drive isn't going to shit.

You could try the Autorun repair wizard..

It could just be that something on your computer altered several settings within the Windows registry.

Which version of Windows are you using? If it is Vista or XP, then try doing a search within your registry for certain keys named "NoDriveTypeAutoRun". The default values for these keys SHOULD be "0x91" (in hexadecimal)...but if they have any other value, then you can just simply click on those keys and change their values back.

Of course, I must say this too: If you don't feel confident about doing this, then don't do it! Altering the wrong settings within the registry could definitely cause something to go wonky inside Windows, so be very very careful.

The Autorun wizard seems to have fixed the issue, so thank you for the advice.
