Macromedia Flash Save Files

I have recently become hooked on websites like Miniclip and Armorgames as well as a significant collection of flash games on my PC. However, I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with.

Some of the more complex games have the save feature like real PC games would. However, due to some setting or the other on my PC when ever I shut it down all my save games are deleted.

Can anyone please direct me on how to turn off this deletion or at least to where the save files might be located so that I can back them up?

Any help is appreciated.

PS. I hope this is not in the wrong section.

Right click on the flash game and go to settings, the click the folder icon and move that sliderbar all the way to the right.

Also, what operating system do you use? Is this a personal computer or something else?

I am using Windows XP Home Edition service pack 3 on a standard PC.

Also, won't that only expand the amount of memory my system can use for flash? Because my problem is that as soon as I shut down my computer the save files get deleted. I can save and load games just fine all day unless I turn of my PC or log of my user account.

The moment I do that, even if I log of and instantly log back in again the saves are gone. Its like something automated in my system is erasing them. Could it be that they are saved in some sort of cache like temporary internet files?

You must have some kind of clear cookies on exit setting turned on.

Anyway, either find a way to turn that off or a way around is to go to the location of the files and manually back them up.

The flash files are 'local shared objects' .lso files, and they should be stored in a (hidden) folder called AppData.

This is in users\YOUR NAME\ in vista, you'll have to turn on hidden folders to see it.

Then the shared objects themselves will be in

AppData\roaming\macromedia\flash player\#shared objects\

In XP it is at "Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player"

then the next folder name is gibberish

and inside that are a whole bunch of folders for each website. I'd just back up the whole thing.

Thank you, that was my thoughts as well but I could newer find a way to turn it off.
Does anyone know how I could do that?

Also, thank you for the advice on how to back them up. I will give it a shot tonight.

Have you tried closing your browser and restarting it? If they are still deleted after that, then it's a browser issue and not an OS issue. That's the most likely place for there to be a 'clear cookies on exit' setting.

I thought about that, but a lot of the flash games I play are not connected to a browser, just plain .fla files.

Also come to think of it, how would I stop my browser (Internet Explorer) from ever deleting any cookies and similar data ever without my explicit telling it to?
