I had some sort of problem when I went to scifi.com, and a virus, probably spyware was downloaded past my antivirus programs. I am currently typing this on a school computer to let the rest of you know that there may be a problem with that site.
so, yeah. Heads up.

Thanks for the notification. Google's also listing the site as being possibly harmful, but none of the other pages have that label. Could someone have hacked the main page?

A bit of research shows that Malwarebytes should be able to remove it if you're infected.

Well, I'm still relegated to school comps, I did the malwarebytes but my comp is still fucked and my roomie is doctoring it the best he can. Still, i have all my files backed up, but DAMMIT I do not need this right before five final projects are due within days of each other.

If it is one of those false antivirus or antispyware programs, try using
ComboFix in Safe Mode. In my experience, Malwarebytes can possibly help with regard to those, but its usefulness has somewhat degraded as malware have evolved over the past few years. Also, when you use ComboFix, you should rename the file to something else (such as ComboFix2.exe, or LOLfix.exe), as some of these malware terminate the program based on file name.
Good luck with that!

Is there any particular reason to go to scifi.com anyway? Is there something interesting on that site?

Checking up on SGU and trying to watch an episode. I ended up reformatting the machine entirely, so problem sorta solved, but I still need some sort of good free writing program that is compatible with word files. I'm thinking Open Office or something like that.
