Has anyone played this? I considered buying it today, was concerned that it wouldn't be quite up to snuff with the quality of the books and wasn't sure how lengthy it would be.
Comments anyone?

Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper
It's funny how every Cracked reader seems to change occupation in between reading each article, so that they always end up being irrefutable field experts in whatever topic is at hand.-Dirty_Bastard, cracked.com commentator

Re: Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper
My fiancée bought it, and stopped pretty quickly.
The interface is apparently irritating enough to make play unbearable.

Re: Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper
I played the Holmes vs. Cthulhu one (wich I think has the same/similar engine/design).
It was good at first, and felt like you were really investigating all Homes-Style, but somewhere around the middle it got very railroaded and felt like a crappy FMV for the rest of it.
Since vs. The Ripper came afterwards (and didn't involve Cthulhu), it might be an improvement.
Still, a modest and fairly unpolished game, so if that bothers you...

Re: Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper
Vs Jack the Ripper is a lot better than Awakened, or indeed Nemesis. The same basic interface is there, but the environments are more atmospheric. Awakened and Nemesis had a London that looked like it had had the clean air act with no pollution or the general atmosphere required of a Holmes game.
Ripper does have a few frustrating moments, but its worth getting. If you're not sure, wait till its reduced. How much is it going for at the moment?
I still maintain that the best two Holmes games though are the old EA adventures , the Case of the Serrated Scalpel and the Case of the Rose Tattoo.

The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
