I recently installed an old favorite of mine, Cossacks: EW wars on a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7. The game runs fine, but there's a major problem with the game's colors, which are sort of like a weird photo-negative, purple-blue-green grainy overlay. I tried taking a screenshot but for some reason it came out as mostly black. Can anyone help me fix this? I've run the game in compatibility mode, adjusted the resolution, and even tried to run it in 256 colors (why, I'm not really sure) without any successful. Can anyone lend me a hand here?

Try opening task manager and nuking Explorer, then running the game from File-New Task.

The same thing happens to me on Starcraft and Diablo, and that's what fixes it.

Worked like a dream, thank you. I would never have come up with that on my own.
