How to update my avast antivirus even if i'm not using a proxy server? Whenever i try to update avast it gives message 'cannot connect to the server' while i'm not using a proxy server and all other applications on my PC are working correctly. Please help?

You're talking about updating virus definitions, right? Not getting the latest version of the program itself? If your internet connection is working properly except for the antivirus update, most likely it's a hardware issue on their end, and you'll just have to wait it out.

If Avast isn't updating you can manually download the latest definitions Here.

If it persistently refuses to update automatically, reinstall it.
