The official cinematic intro was released today.

It's like a Roland Emmerich movie. Watch several famous landmarks of Azeroth be destroyed in explosions and natural disasters.

That's some damn good graphics. I especially liked the water surging around Thousand Needles.

Battering rams: Because hammers just aren't hardcore enough.

Visually very nice, but it lacked the emotional impact of Terenas's voiceover from the Lich King intro. The lack of any non-Deathwing characters resulted in the cataclysm only appearing to break places, not massacre thousands of people.

I thought it was awesome. I honestly am not sure I'll ever play WoW again, but I still thought that video rocked.

It's like a Roland Emmerich movie, but it actually looks like it might be good!
I'm still unsure of the lore about Deathwing, but damn if that's not an intimidating-looking beast.

Can't wait to see what Hemet Nesingwary's reaction is when he sees the dragon...

Like most of Blizzard stuff, very pretty and evocative. Still not enough to get me back, and the whole of seeing what changes they are doing...keeps me away from it all.

Updating with a couple cinematics using the game engine.

First one has been out for a while. It happens mid-way through the Goblin starting zone.

This one came out earlier today. It's the one that happens mid-way through the Worgen starting zone.

They are definitely moving towards having more of these in-game (as opposed to just mid-expansion patch trailers) due to the success of the Wrath Gate cinematic.

It certainly makes the game more interesting. Hopefully this expansion will also include more phasing.

I wish they'd stop doing those super-closeup shots in the in-game cinematics; their models and textures are NOT flattered by close inspection.

Phasing is indeed gonna be expanded. And it'll also finally extend to actual terrain(IE, instead of just phasing in a tower, as in Icecrown, you can make part of a coastal region /sink/.).

What I would like to see for phasing is that for levels 1-80, everything is normal, then when you hit 80 and come back from Northrend and all of a sudden you have to play through the Cataclysm. But that's probably too much work to expect it to be done.

Too much work to be done, WAY too many zones to account for five levels, and would defeat the entire purpose of the Cataclysm (in-character excuse to gut all the old-ass horrible content and revamp it so the levelling experience improves).

Because heaven forbid I start my post agreeing with your summation and then expand on it. Jackass.

What needed expanding upon? Too much work is too much work.

The rest of my post, where I detailed other reasons for that being a bad idea in addition to your own. Who's the illiterate one now? ;)

I'm very excited about the new stuff I've seen. I predict I'll be having great fun with Archaeology.

Metzen revealed the third Old God will be called N'Zath and that he is the one responsible for the corruption of the Emerald Dream AND of Deathwing. He's locked in the rift, so he's definately going to be a boss.

That's a pretty big spoiler, you may want to cover that up.

Poo.

I was so looking forward to Cataclsym, but after the Great Computer Meltdown this week I don't have a computer capable of playing WoW in it's current form, much less updated.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

What? I'm pretty sure if you fucked with it and turned down the settings all the way you could play WoW off a microwave. :P

Probably, but all I've got is a nightlight here, not a microwave.

We're working on the problem. I have confidence the Mad Scientist of the family will fix the issue(s). However, he was up all night and needs to get some rest.

One of the reasons I left warcraft was computer difficulties causing me to play less frequently.
