Why would subbing it be hard?

Advocating copyright violation isn't tolerated on this forum ;)

It's just its rare for foreign tv series in another language to be aired outside of the host county. I guess waiting till it hits dvd and trying amazon is about all that can be done.

Its not like multi-language foreign films are rare. Its probably going to be rubbish, but I doubt availability is going to be a big issue, particularly since they released the trailer subbed.

You can watch the 1979 Andrei Tarkovsky movie legally on Google Video:

It even has English subtitles, but of course apart from the name it has nothing to do with the game. And it has very little action and very slow pace, like it should be. 8)

You mean the movie they half based the game on.... or the movie that some people believe predicted the Chernobyl accident 7 years ahead of time?

Both. And neither. Both were based on the novel, and both are inferior to it.

Have a very nice day.

The novel is great, but the Tarkovsky movie does not have much to do with it despite being written by the Strugatskys. It has the same basic idea and that's about it. Like Tarkovsky movies in general, it is mostly a visual experience and therefore not really comparable to the novel. If you were to sample the expert opinion of relative importance of Stalker the movie vs. Roadside Picnic the novel to their respective artistic mediums, you would quickly notice the movie is highly respected among film critics and aficionados in general, whereas the novel is pretty much unknown outside the scifi circles.

It is? My impression was quite the opposite- the movie is thought of something enjoyed only by film buffs, while the Strugatsky novels have long been part of the "mainstream" (and got an even bigger boost with the filming of "Inhabited Island" and "The Ugly Swans," much like Lukyanenko was boosted by the Night Watch films).

Have a very nice day.
