Recommend me a joystick

Im looking to buy a joystick for flight sims. I want to spend up to the value of Logitech Freedom and I was almost sure I'll get that but I heard about an issue in the twist handle (supposedly it breaks down really quick).

I want a joystick that can be used for simulator games but is at the same time compact (so no separate yoke or pedals). Force feedback is not necessary, I don't really like it. Twist handle is a necessity, since I used to play things like IL-2 and FS2004 really often back in the day.

Can someone recommend me something worthy? Im a fan of Logitech products but I was really put off about negative comments on Extreme 3D Pro and Freedom, so Im inclined to look elsewhere.

Nobody tell STRAK about this thread.

I've got a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and it's probably the best joystick I've owned. It's been solidly reliable and is a nice feeling stick.

I love my Microsoft Sidewinder, and it meets your requirements of compact and twist handle. The only criticism I could level at it is that it's right hand specific, which may or may not be a problem for you.

Odd. I love my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. It's quite a nice stick for flight sims, and it feels quite solid. And it's been very reliable so far.

I'm a Saitek fan. Currently I have a Cyborg, my previous joystick was a st290. I like them partly because you can adjust everything on the handle.

I have a Force 3D Pro, which is mostly identical to the Extreme 3D Pro, and I love it dearly so chalk up another vote. Part of me prefers my old MIDI-connection MS Sidewinder joysticks, but Logitech's 3D Pro line is very much a worthy successor.

Chalk up another vote for the Logitech 3D Force or Pro. I've got that and it works quite well.

Yet another recommendation of the Extreme 3D Pro here. Not only is it an overall excellent stick, but it can be had for only around $25, so in the unlikely event that you manage to break it, it's easily replaced.
