So my first foray into MMOs left me with the realization that my desperate thirst for the next good open space-pilot game will not be quenched by the unbelievably slow pace of EVE-online. So, I'm letting my account expire at the end of this month, and I almost certainly won't be back to the game. I have a pile of stuff that will expire with me, but since I know we have EVE players, I wanted to do something nice for other people to counter the sheer amount of theiving and lying I did while playing. Now, I never signed with a corp - ever - so there isn't much stuff to go around, but save for a small opening investment from mr. Coffee I earned every damn ship, gun and penny all by myself, so I'm proud of my garage of T1 ships, dammit.

Problem is, most of the 'good stuff' is geared towards what I was: a hauler and trader. Being a cost-sensitive independant trader meant that I tended towards cheap, easily replaceable ships and gear and very little in the way of weapons and combat gear. I have a plethora of T1 ships from all factions through to the cruiser level, and a pile of arms, armament and gear from every concieveable profession. A little of it is mine, most of it is stock for my customers, so it's all over the place and I'm not likely to be picking through it - I'll likely dump it all into an Industrial and set it adrift or whatever. Very little of what I have is in raw ISK (I have maybe 10mil to my name), since I tended to invest all my cash in the ownership (and later sale, at a rise) of specific merchandise.

All told, there's maybe 100mil worth of crap piled up. I haven't the interest in liquidating it, and the account expires in eight or so days. There are a few unique things in the collection that might attract attention, such as the one-per-user Primae and that tiny explorer solar-sail thingy whose name I cannot recall, which have been rusting in my garage since I recieved them. As I understand, those things are unique and irreplaceable, so they may make decent long-term investment holdings if they aren't judged to be crap.

Post below if you give a crap. If you don't give a crap, I won't either when they delete my account or whatever happens when I stop paying them.

Do we have anybody just getting into the game? That sort of wallet and assets won't do much for a vet, but for someone just taking their first baby-steps, that can allow them to vault over the most dull and obnoxious parts of startup.

Shit, that reminds me, I should use the latest free period to log in and transfer all my shit to someone too.

I have to say Mr Coffee was awesome and gave me some some start-up cash as well, which was really decent of the old rogue

New Eden can be quite a boring place sadly.

Contract anything over to Commandant Valkyrie if you want. I'm just starting to manufacture t1 modules after a couple of months trying to get into PvP and could do with some more starting capital for more expensive blueprints.

The frustrating thing about EVE is that it feels like it's about 90% of the way to being a really good game. The problem is that last 10% is pretty much all the user experience.

The problems aren't even difficult; CCP just like it the way it is. Its the closest a game gets to 'making sense' in an intuitive sense, and whole swathes of business are impossible because the devs are morons.

I think it doesn't help that the forums are full of blithering idiots as well. Thankfully I did find a forum similar to SDN which is both less crap and more informative, so that pain at least is over.

PS: ingame name is same as here, in case anyone ever does feel charitable when leaving the game

Do any of you contenders actually need a mild injection of cheap stuff? I'd infinitely prefer to push along a noob that might get something out of it.

I didn't have a problem with the game itself; I'm actually fairly complimentary of the experience. For what I wanted to do - buy and sell commodities to violent and untrustworthy people - it was fun. I realize that the trading experience is ludicriously easy to replicate in any other sort of game, but EVE had the benefit of not knowing when I'd have to shoot someone sneakier than an AI in order to preserve my precious wares. In that sense, being corp-less was a hell of a ride, because everyone I dealt with treated me like I had a giant bullseye painted on my hull, which was more exciting than being a Made Man in someone's mob.

My quitting is the result of basically getting all out of the game that I was ever going to, since the top end for an independant is much lower than for a corp member and I feel confident that I hit that top end to my satisfaction.

Need? Nah, not really.

Lagmonster, trust me when I say this, leave your isk and your assets where they're sitting. Let your account lapse, go play something else for a few months, whatever. Eventually you might decide to play again and all your stuff will be there waiting for you. If some newbie needs a loan or some advice/help getting into an alliance that doesn't suck they can send me an EVE mail (Angus McAWESOME) and I'll see if I can get 'em squared away.

From what I've heard CCP occasionally offers former players a limited amount of time to come back and give the game a try again. Why not wait 3-6 months and then if you're still completely disinterested in coming back, give away everything then? That way you aren't screwed if you give away everything then decide you want to play again.

Unless, you know, among your miscellaneous stuff is a Raven Navy issue, Gila, or Machariel. In which case I'd be more than happy to take them off of your hands. Just to help out.

They do that about every 3/4 months. I don't mind the nagging, it means I keep being updated on how I still don't want to pay for the game.
