1. How hard is it to start battles with a horse?
2. How many dudes see and therefor hit at once?
3. Great voice acting or the Greatest voice acting?

Wait, Chardock. Are you telling me this game has real time weapon change?! I mean, I was under the impression that all Dynasty Warrior games were the same, but if they've thrown a curveball like that into the mix I may have to reconsider my stance on the issue. I wonder if the 3DS dynasty warriors game will be able to live up to the high standards of the series.

Dawg - it doesn't GET any realer!

You really should - clearly this product has been innovative and fresh since it's first incarnation on the PS1. It has a bevy of features integrated throughout the series that many other games have often imitated, but never duplicated. Let's take, for example, the fact that this newest iteration of the series has ONLINE AND LOCAL CO-OP! What other game can tout THAT as a feature? I defy you to produce one, sir!

Have you not heard of the Haloz good sir? I believe they posses both Online and Local Co-op, however they are crippled as it is well know with the ability to only hit one dude at a time.
The real question remains, in Co-Op what will my associate do, because broadly speaking all of the dudes here are mine for the taking, or specifically beating, what shall my Co-op partner do? Hold my horse? Ferry over various power ups I might otherwise pass up because there are fewer people to hit that way? Ride behind me to take care of corpse detail?

I bite my thumb, sir! One of so little imagination does not deserve to participate in the multiplayer hack-and-slash extravaganza that is Dynasty Warriors, sir! Imagine if you will, sir, two great generals take the field of battle, arm cannon and spear at the ready; one feints to the north, attacking the main force head on, one flanking in from the west to carve great swathes of destruction and chaos through the enemy ranks! Why, the possibilities, sir, of ONLINE AND LOCAL COOP in Dynasty Warriors are endless!
Also - Corpses is the Dynasty Warriors universe are a non-issue, sir. for obvious reasons. OBVIOUSLY.

Didn't Strikeforce have on-the-fly weapon changing?
Okay, I get there is some sarcasm in there, but Strikeforce is the only iteration I've played, so I don't know quite how homogeneous the series really is.

Yeah, it can't really getting any more homoer. Or geniuser. the main point is that DW is a really fun hack and slash (well, 4 and 5 were...also 3) but KOEI keep adding silly stupidshit features that are terrible and no one cares about while ignoring what people have been asking for for like 10 years ONLINE - NON SPLIT-SCREEN COOP PLAY. And now they've finally done it.
But arm cannons....Jesus.

Chards, this could be one of the greatest game OPs I have ever seen.
Also I may actually buy this since it has the coops!
From the linked article - the most important part is bolded. wrote:Musou attacks, powerful attacks that can be executed when the Mosou meter is filled, return, but now each character has a total of two, one for ground-based attacks and one for aerial attacks. Pandas and elephants join the roster of mountable animals, powering up each character’s attack and mobility substantially.
I think we can all agree that this game is going to be so money/raw/fire/hot/awesome/good/a day 1 purchase.
As for the voice acting... *sigh* The description I've heard of it is "twice the dialogue in half the time at the same budget."
Hopefully the US release is more fleshed out, because they seem to have reverted to DW4's "Kingdom" Story Mode where you play a 'kingdom' instead of an individual character's story -- but in this case, you're locked to a specific character per stage, and apparently you have to unlock the stage in Conquest Mode to play it with different characters, in Conquest Mode. Even then, apparently the timelines are screwy, with several characters not appearing at all or appearing but not getting credit for what they did*, and by the time of Jin's story mode Jiang Wei and Liu Shan are the only remaining playable characters not with Jin. (It apparently doesn't cover the fall of Wu, but by then none of the playable characters seem to be left anyway, and not even the source material cared enough to cover it for more than one chapter.)
On the other hand, it's the first time I recall one of the playable characters dying at another playable character's hands:Spoiler
Xiahou Yuan seems to capture Huang Zhong at Mt. Ding Jun, but when his troops go to bind the old general, Xiahou Yuan gets distracted -- and by the time he turns back around, his troops are dead, Huang Zhong's back in the saddle and aiming at him. Xiahou Yuan in his panic overpulls and breaks his bow, Huang Zhong doesn't.
This does have real-time weapon switching, but this video isn't too clear about whether or not doing so breaks an ongoing combo. (Except for Zhao Yun's switch from his spear to the twin staves, the combo counter seems to disappear before the weapon switch, and in his case the player didn't attack with the staves until after the combo counter disappeared, so who in America knows.) Basically anyone can wield any unlocked/acquired weapon, though characters will have more affinity with their iconic weapon, and their EX and Musou attacks will use those weapons.
It also seems to have a much shorter timeframe for hits to maintain a combo, which is a shame because I remember someone getting a 2000+ hit combo with Liu Bei in DW6.
DW7 achievement: "Okay, you can pursue Lu Bu." I wonder if that's as much a meme in Japan as it is in America?
* On the one hand, the Qiao sisters don't appear in Story Mode at all (and their most accurate stage ever was that one DW4XL stage with them fleeing from an "amorous" Cao Cao's clutches). On the other hand, Pang De has been demoted from playable character to NPC in DW6, and now to nonexistent in DW7.

Any of you guys actually picked it up yet? I'm actually considering it now, especially after several positive reviews of parts of it.

I will, eventually - right now I'm hjust too busy to really get in to a game at all (Damned adulthood) I pretty much trust 2 people when it comes to anything DW, and that is STRAK and Jim Sterling, both of which gave this glowing reviews with only a few caveats. Hell, for mym money its worth it if the game even looks like a current gen title (which it does)
Here's 60 bucks, KOEI, again, you're welcome.
Got myself the PS3 version

So far all I've played is the tutorial and the Shu campaign, but my main disappointment so far is that when Zhao Yun finds Liu Bei's son at Changban (Shu, Part 1), his character model doesn't spend the rest of the stage with a baby strapped to its chest. (The opening CG is a lie!) On the other hand, as soon as Zhang Fei's portion of Changban (Shu, Part 2) begins, the bridge is on fire.
YES.
The previous best part of the Shu campaign had been Zhao Yun's previous role (Shu, Battle of Guandu) when Yuan Shao declared Liu Bei a traitor... and the entire map turned "enemy" red.
P.S. Re: what Jim Sterling said about DW7's allied NPC AI... it varies in my experience, but at least "unique"/playable-character NPCs are aggressive in a good way.

Ghetto edit: I just cleared Changban (Shu, Part 2) by smacking Cao Cao in the face with one of his own soldiers.
Best Dynasty Warriors game ever.
Now I'm off to drive a ballista on a boat down the Long River during Chibi ("Red Cliffs")...
