It was during a routine patrol of the outer orbits of the lunar facilities when unknown crafts were sighted.



The patrol perused the unknown crafts and attempted to identify them. Unfortunately, the pilots of the patrol were high. As in high on various semi-legal performance-enhencing drugs to increase their flight-time.

The results was failure to hail the craft and the immediate loss of one of the patrol units. The chatter indicates that the functioning capacity of the pilots were too, impaired. Patrol units disobeyed orders to disengage, opened fire, but due to the fact that they were higher than a kite assisted with rocket boosters, missed spectacularly.

However, there was at least one spark of luck in their behaviour: they followed the unknown craft to their destination.

After the various Esperanza governments collectively shat themselves, the results were analysed: it appears that there is an alien invasion force headed straight to Earth.

What's worse is that some of it was heading our way.

Correctively, an inter-state military organization on the otherwise peaceful world of Esperanza.



The organization will receive funds from all Esperanza states in exchange for protection. The alternative will be buying more pies to placate the panic-stricken population.
A base has already been established on one of the largest continental regions: Ilyria.

Now all we need are crazy brave new cannon fodder recruits to face the alien menace personally!

While the recruitment office finds suitable victims, work has already begun!


Behold as the ten scientists dutifully begin work on new, more powerful weapons to face the alien threat!



Once the old salt mine has been converted to a secure CAF base and handed over, it has been determined that an additional laboratories should be needed to try to minimize the advanced nature of the aliens' technology. Furthermore, a missile silo Alien Welcoming Machine and a torture chamber alien holding cell has in the middle of construction.

like I said, standard poor bloody infantry/medic, and pack mule for your Heavy Weapons guys, since If the character is based on me, it should be able to carry quite a bit, while complaining about it's poor back the whole damn time.

There is a tank, but it sucks. Well, not really, but it isn't much better than a well-equipped soldier. It is surprisingly fragile, doesn't gain experience and not that much better. The biggest problem is that it takes up the space of 4 soldiers in a craft that can only carry 8.
Yet. Maybe later on we'll get something better, but right now, it's on backup.

Oh, what the hell. Sign me up as a rifleman, originally hired as a computer tech but mistakenly assigned combat duty, and the squad's token sane person.

Dammit! I wanna be a pilot! Oh well, maybe I can assist the scientists in the Torture Chamber Prisoner Internment Area until a slot opens up.

Now that I've signed up, how is this game different or the same from the classic perfection that is X-Com? I recall seing the opening cutscene on youtube once, but past that, I have no recollection about ever hearing anything of subsance about UFO:ET.

Hrm, did a quick head-count, and it looks like I'm the 11th grunt, so either I wait for the next mission's rotation, or I'm on reserves until we get three horrible mutilated deaths cases of friendly fire victims of xeno weapons honorable discharges for serving a tour of duty with valour. Ah well, I'm 1/3 on X-Com game survival on this board, and I hope to drop that even further. That is not a request!

First few days have been quiet. Almost too quiet. As if the aliens aren't afraid of us! THIS CANNOT STAND!

I have already set out my handful of scientists to create more terrifying weapons!

And of course, least we forget, women brave enough to stand solid among men.

I have given an order for inspection. I have surpervized their gear myself, nothing but the best for MY MEN!

Well, on a short notice anyway.



Then there are these. These I have requested to be equipped myself. I heard all the analyists whine and moan about how we don't know the alien's weapons, how they all could be overwhelming and so on and so on.

But I knew from the first moment I have read of these that this will turn the tide. Those sneaky alien bastards may think they get the first shot, but it will be for NOTHING! NOTHING! For these shields will absord their superior weapons fire and what shall they get in return? Ah hah, the FURY OF MY MEN!

I have been assured that the rumours that these things cause sterility to be false, by no one less than the manufacturer!
