Ace of Spades: You got Minecraft in my WW1! (FREE BETA)

Already this tiny, shittily-graphics'ed indie game has already developed a rich playerbase and strategies. Hell, I just watched a bunch of dudes MURDER AN ENTIRE MOUNTAIN for the hell of it.

You are equipped with:

1. A trench-digging shovel, that clears the block you aim it at, and the blocks above and below it, digging a perfectly-sized trench. Returns no usable blocks. Also good for making tunnels, and destroying enemy decoys.

2. A Mining Pick, which removes the block you are using it on and adds it to your inventory.

3. Placeable Colorable Blocks. You spawn with 25, and can carry up to 100. Color them however you like - right-click to match the block color you are looking at on the terrain to camoflague and blend in, or perhaps scrawl some graffiti that insults the other team, signify important areas on the map, or populate a hillside with Blue- or Green- colored decoys to irritate your opponents!

4. A semiautomatic rifle; 10 rounds clip. Reload time is significant, but while she's loaded, every click of the mouse is a bullet, and headshots do more damage. Right-click for iron-sights!

5. Two Grenades. You have a fairly pitiful throw-distance, but they pack a hell of a punch, and they destroy a couple nearby blocks when they go off. Sometimes, the right tool for the job.
"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

The servers are a bit iffy, but this game is great. They've definitely already surpassed Minecraft.

The game would be good if it didn't crash all the time and it didn't take several tries to join any single server.

Also, this is a game that really benefits from teamwork.

This game is very good. Just wanna toss my approval in and the recommendation everyone should give it a try. I've been having great fun playing on myriad servers using the name DeuceInaCan.

The rifle is very much a skill meisters weapon, it has perfect accuracy. Yet it fires pretty darned rapidly so it can work for those who just want to rain bullets on folks instead of snipe. Sniping is evil in this due to the combination of concealed firing positions being easy to build and the fact headshots are always fatal.

I've also noticed that so far half the intel captures are caused by teamwork on the opposing side but the other half are caused by people forgetting to guard the intel as standing guard is boring. (Normally guards could amuse themselves by building defences while they wait but sadly the griefer content of the average spades server is still too high to make that worthwhile on most servers).

I finally got around to trying it and damn is the game a great way to kill time. Sapping through a mountain to bypass a fortress is just plain stupid awesome.
