I finally decided to upgrade my Firefox from 3.16 to 4 as I thought that was the latest version. But lo and behold, once I installed FF4, I'm told that I needed to install FF5. Now my question is, what was wrong with FF4? It has been out for what at most 3 months? What's so different about 5 that it could not be implemented in 4 as mini update (i.e. 4.1, etc.)?

Nothing went wrong with FF4. Firefox just changed development cycles. Get ready for 4 versions of Firefox a year. They are calling each update a whole new version. We will be on Firefox 8 by next year with Mozilla's new development process.

Yeah, its stupid. I hope they change their minds. This is just Firefox 4.1 honestly.

Goddamn, this is what I despise about computers, my Mac is stuck w/ a Firefox 2, since it can't upgrade to 3 & the Opera my Wii uses is already obsolete/unsupported even though I bought it a year ago. Don't get me started on Javascript & Flash Player, I don't have the money to keep up. I mean, after thaier newest change, both Yahoo & youtube cut off over 50% of their users who could afford to get newer computers & w/ the worsening economy, they'll losemore w/ each new generation forced upon us. But otoh, it took 20 years for DVD to replace VCR, though only ~5 years to get replaced by Blu-Ray. What's after Blu-Ray, Unoffordium? It's depressing!

They should just go to date-based versioning if they're going to use a date-based release schedule.

Didn't they deliberately shove all the breaking stuff into Aurora so that the release branches have working code?

Quick question, how do I get Firefox to stop opening a new tab every time I click the home button? I did it before but I forgot. I don't want to open another tab if I just need the current tab to go to my home page.
