Pretty interesting read. I found the comments on modern game development especially so.

An extremely interesting read. I really like the part when he justifies the selection of form: choosing a pseudo-3d izometric view in higher resolution (I remember I had alot of problems to properly set the SVGA on my computer, afair the memory requirements required some config.sys mods like highmem...ah, the times) instead of blocky full blown 3d everyone was gunning for at that time.
It seems the guy was just focused on making a good game, not just showcasing the latest technology. Which is quite admirable.
Also his implementation of logical solution finding in level design is something that is lost for many game devs today, who instead favor an "on the rails" approach to level design. Sadly, even as open game as Dead Island is not much more than a rail shooter in terms of level design.

Interesting but sad that there won't be another Crusader game.

Of course there will be. It will be a tactical squad based First Person Shooter completely faithful to the original game. Just like X-Com is a perfect adaption to the original, but only because Ray Charles wishes he was more like Kayne West.
