Bioshock infinite gets "1999" mode
tl;dr: You young'uns want a taste of what it was like to play a shotter back in my day? Set your copy of BioClock: Ad infinitum to 1999 mode and DESPAIR!

Sounds to me like it's going to be full of just as many real challenges as it will be full of poorly thought out design cliches.
We'll see if they implement it as skillfully as say, Metro 2033's Ranger Mode.

I get a feeling that it's going to be leaning towards Nintendo Hard bullshit like making the resources you need to get rezzes as rare as hens' teeth and giving you fuck all for health rather than something that requires truly skilful gameplay.

How does low health not increase the level of skill required? Dodging is a 'skill'.
Its a lol to see such faux-retro nonsense, though. Even the most basic comparison to actual 90s shooters would show how badly they missed the mark.
Now if '1999' mode introduced heaps of map glitches, had more primitive and yet less functional AI, made every door in the game a fetch quest and set every second light in the game to 'strobe', we'd be talking.
