print driver issue

Have a notebook Vista that when we try to add HP print driver no matter which one we get a 0x00000002 error. Tried drivers from the website, from the cd neither works. Removed all print drivers from registry still did not work. Tried to install using the mmc print management still received same error.

What's interesting is we tried a dell driver and it worked without an issue. So only HP drivers are affected. Any ideas?

64 Bit oder 32 bit Vista? HP has notoriously bad driver support für 64 bit Vista.

A quick googling showed that some people have been able to instal printer drivers when getting that error after stopping the print spooler service using start -> run -> services.msc. Termporarily disabling UAC might help, too.

First Sind sie Deutsch. Just asking as you used the Deutsch word for or.
To topic 32 bit system. Tried both suggestion and they failed. I keep telling to person to get a dell printer case solved. Not an answer he wants.

Ha, yeah, German - serves me right for having German conversations while composing English forum posts ;)

Too bad, I'd advise to google the error and look through the suggestions that come up - this problem seems moderately widespread, maybe somebody came up with a real solution.
