Mouse Guard springs to mind.

Definitely Mouse Guard if you can get past its utterly nonsensical arrangement of the rules in the rulebook. Good game, but needs a better editor.

Mainly the organization.
When we played it, we were flipping from one section to another all the time. It's organized very poorly - with something like combat in one section, but the weapons (which are related to combat) are in another one entirely.
The resolution system is very streamlined and elegant once you get it though, which is why it does deserve the gushing review - the issue isn't with the game, it's the poor editting.

A question - would knowledge of
Burning Wheel be a help or a hindrance in picking up Mouse Guard?

I would say mostly a help. Mouse Guard is a much more streamlined version of Burning Wheel, and the resolutions are simpler and more intuitive. It would only be a hindrance if you memorized the Burning Wheel resolution system (and all its chrome) by heart that you find it difficult to move away from it.

Woodland Warriors has a pretty strong Redwall influence.

set in the Alder Vale, Stonewell Abbey is a place of learning for the Kind and Murkenhill Fort is a bastion against evil. Players take the role of Mice, Moles, Hedgehogs, Squirrels and Badgers, who must protect their homes against the Verminous Rats and Weasels that pour down from the Murkenhills, intent on pillage and plunder.
yeah, i see what you mean
although they have strangely included a wild west expansion and 'woodland critters in space.'
the mind boggles.
