Help my brother set up old video games on computer.

Ok a bit of background.
My elderbrother has a huge LCD TV on his wall that is linked up to a spare computer and an AppleTV. All of his movies, music, aduiobooks, etc, he streams through the computers. He even weired up a special remote that is able to work on both the TV, the Appletv and the computer.
Well, recently he got ahold of an old school NES and SNES emulator along with about 1000 old school ROM files. He has been loading them up into his entertainment computer, but there is a hitch.
The computer is tucked out of the way, so you don't see it. In order to 'do' anything on it, he still has to plug in a mouse and keybored. As you can guess, this isn't good when wanting to play video games on it.
A USB game controller would nee almost 10ft of cord to reach the computer. And with two kids and a dog, that is NOT A solution.
So what do some of the nerds out there think? Could you do a wireless controller for a computer?
